About to have a nervous breakdown

In the last week I have gone from a 20GB Disk Space reseller(though it must have already been well over its quota) to a 60GB VPS which has now just run out of space.

Now waiting for the sales department to upgrade me to their highest VPS 100GB Disk Space but been waiting for 24 hours, and support are going to try and get them to do it as soon as but its a bit nerve racking.

Its good that business has been getting busy lately but spending ten hours a day setting up online stores and then having disk space and email problems is sending me over the edge.

Though I have to say, despite everything, their support has been excellent and I really couldnt ask for better in terms of service.

But now thinking when I run out of disk space next time its going to be dedicated server and I am so not prepared for that.

I know there isnt any questions in there, more of a "say it or crack up" moment.

I honestly dont know how proper hosting start ups cope. Wouldnt be so bad if I could afford some staff lol. Though that would probably just cause even more chos and stress.

I don't know your setup or what you're doing, but something you could consider is getting storage at a service like Amazon and then using that for the heavier static resources. This would also allow you to resize it independent of your web/VPS hosts and give you more power. There are pros and cons, and most likely a higher cost. If you're feeling really overwhelmed I'd likely suggest hiring someone, but with the understanding that they walk you through their steps or document them so you can learn some of the skills/knowledge.

Thanks for your reply, it looks like I have one site that has an error and is importing 1500 images a day (ouch) so once I sort that out it should be ok, however I will look into what you have said.

If you have the budget range around ~$250 per month you might want to consider getting a dedicated server to facilitate your future growth. It will also eliminate need to upgrade server every few days.

My budget is $100 and already using $90 of that with my new 100GB upgrade, plus just not ready to go the full hog yet, I have way too much to learn.

That's the exact attitude you need. Keep it up

you can get the dedicated server with multiple of 3TB HDD, example:

Out of curiosity how big are the images and would it be feasible to automatically resize them for storage upon import?

the images arnt the problem, the problem is that there should have been 1500 imagesand now there are 156,000 images (aprox) and as soon as you delete the images folder it reapears a few seconds later, support is currently try to find out why.

As I say I cant fault support, I have probably cost them as much in man hours as they have got for the VPS

Just so you know I'm ordering number six VPS tomorrow so you better get in quick if you want any more or you'll be in the queue again!

I'm started to have second thoughts, this is the 2nd time today all my sites have gone down, first time was due to a "spike" and probably the same again, but I never had a single problem on my reseller account with the other company, just couldnt afford one of their VDS servers.

Hope they sort it soon.

Banndwidth and disk space should not be a problem as I have purposely made sure I have got plenty to grow into. Until I know the current problem I am not going to make any rush recisions.
