We aren't forever, of course. After having my heart almost failed several days ago, I had recalled the discussion we had some time ago at LJ.
In short, what will happen to Net personal resources after the author's death?
In many a case, domain name is hard to pass to relatives/reliable friends/whoever reliable to keep it dedicated to former owner's name. Domain will be lost to a Web traffic harvester; the higher was the domain's ranks, the more probable is the above scenario.
Hosting, unless it was a free services such as LJ, would fail even sooner. Site will simply disappear, prior to domain gets lost.
I wonder, is it kind of memorial service on the Net, that could take care of such cases? Domain registrars have no definite position about this, as far as I know.
Could you say, whether do you care about your network presence being lost after you leave this world?

I think it will matter more to people who have created something: an important web site (that they want to live on), a detailed blog, etc.
How do people making such death preparations ensure that the annual domain renewal fees will be paid after their death?

I have no answer for the last question. It requires good thinking over.
Site's content may be of high interest to the person's friends/readers. But they are people least possible to influence the resources' further fate.

Normally a person doesn't think/prepare/plan about death (I haven't done so) and it comes all of sudden. I guess my domains would just expire and will eventually grabbed by traffic harvesters as you've mentioned.

@Master BO so you've a heart attack ?
And I think domains will continue to be your, until their renewal time, after that some one will grap or it will just be available for register again.
And who knows that what will be its death time ?

It depends on this given user's beliefs, methinks.

Sorry to hear you had an heart attack, whats your age?
Its always good to have someone in family knowing about progress in what we do so that if something happens to us, they can take care of it.

that is why paypal introduced subscription billing.
Just make available the funds in your account, and you may die a hundred times.

Well, that's an interesting idea, to upload several kUSD to the account and make everything recurring.
One problem, PayPal may also not be forever.

From my part, that's fine.
But there are also registrars and hosting providers.
I foresee problems trying to get domain name belonging to other person. If credentials to registrar's control panel get lost, there might be problems.
Site means hosting. Hosting should also change owners seamlessly.
