    Softaculous hands down.

Fantastico is not only more expensive but has less scripts and is slower to update scripts. Many users done realize it but Critical WordPress updates take 2-3 weeks to be updated with Fantastico. Softaculous is less then 48 hours.

    Wow, 2-3 weeks? That's awful.

Had experience with Fantastico but as previously mentioned script updates are not as regular as Softaculous.

    I would recommend Softaculous.

Having been an NOC Partner with both companies, there's no question about who we like - Softaculous. More scripts, faster updates, cheaper price. For years we used Fantastico, but we changed to Softaculous a few years ago and really haven't ever looked back. Regular updates is the big thing - and for whatever reason Fantastico just couldn't keep up with this. They were great 10 years ago, but for the last 5 years they've fallen behind to the point that we can't use them at all.

Softaculous all the way! We have a few hundred dedicated & VPS installations running it!

Soft is the way to go. Fantastico is just plain dated.

In my opinion Softaculous is like comparing Google to Ask Jeeves Fantastico got left behind while Softaculous have continued to improve with new scripts & features.

If for any reason you don't want to use Softaculous and you are looking for an alternative, consider Installatron(rather than Fantastico).

As a side effect of switching hosts, I just switched from Fantastico to Softaculous. Wow. I didn't think the difference would be nearly this great. Fantastico is obsolete, both in terms of functionality and software choice.
