    Looking for this VPS

I've done a fair amount of searching, perhaps I've overlooked something, but I'm having trouble finding this.

    1. Ability to upload my own ISO (here's what narrows it...and I would prefer xen for this in case someone is actually attempting this in OVZ)
    2. U.S. based. (please no kimsufi)
    3. Not oversold, plenty of room for moderate CPU usage without risk of destroying the node
    4. At least 1GB RAM
    5. High disk I/O (not to abuse it, just someone running a backup shouldn't kill my I/O)
    6. Prefer 1Gbps line, ok with 100Mbit.
    7. Under $50/m

It's a toy for a few tests, I can find each of those specifications but what I'm really lacking is the first 2 ever being together.

Have you taken a look at the VPS hosting offers forum down below? You should have no problem finding a provider that meets your requirements there

Actually the first two requirements narrow down the search and make it a bit difficult to find. I'm sure it's there, but I've been searching off and on for 3 days. I'd rather not resort to Google on this except to search this site.

Uploading your own ISO might indeed be a problem for some providers. You at least need XEN preferably KVM for that. May I ask why you want to upload your own ISO? A decent provider offers nearly all Operating Systems.

x2...Have you thought about contact a provider to install whatever it is you need installed? Mosts hosts I've been with have many many options, but even if they don't list one you need, they put something like "contact us if you need something else".

It's not so much a need as a desire. I am continually testing new providers and systems to find the perfect "home away from home" VPS. Basically where you might have a Linux box in the corner that you use as a toy, I have a few VPS systems. I suppose you could say I'm embracing the cloud for personal use.

Right now I'm toying with 64u's VDS. He mounted the OS I want (Ubuntu 12 desktop...don't hate, I like pretty things that eat memory) and it's running incredibly well.

On a less serious note I'm also taking note of how providers implement various "outside of the box" features. Market research is most fun by digging in

That would certainly be outside of the box if a VPS host offered ISO uploading. I would be interested to see it done.

There are plenty that do it

Cant go wrong with KVM for what you require, it beats Xen HVM hands down in most tests i have seen/read.

Oh cool - shoot me some links if you have a minute. My niche is so specific that I don't keep track of general VPS hosting sometimes.

Sweet. Thanks for those. I like IntoVPS pricing. It pleases me when prices are not too high or too low. Their test files aren't hitting fast but they say 1Gbps lines, the test files must be capped at 10Mbit by mistake or on purpose to keep the lines clear.
