1Ghz CPU shouldn't be problem, fedora can run in 600Mhz ARM processor without problem. You should worry about RAM, as long as its >512MB, you're good to go

These are the requirements listed,

Quote:
Root
1GHZ processor (recommended)
Android 2.1 or higher
Kernel will loop device support (this is included in most custom ROM's)
SD card with at least 3.5GB of free space for large image (2.5GB for small image)
Data connection on your device
Ext2 file system support
It might run, but I haven't seen anyone try it with a Experia Mini Pro on the XDA thread.

Wrong, it is Linux (using a fairly stock Linux Kernel. There are very few modifications done.

Also, yum is just a component of a few linux distros, not all. Most distros have a package manager (yum, apt, emerge) however some dont (rely on source packages). Android uses apk packages.

Android was also developed to be even more secure then Linux by adding features such as:
  • Sandboxing: The Android platform uses a technique called “sandboxing” to put virtual walls between applications and other software on the device. So, if you download a malicious application, it can't access data on other parts of your phone and its potential harm is drastically limited.
  • Permissions: Android provides a permission system to help you understand the capabilities of the apps you install, and manage your own preferences. That way, if you see a game unnecessarily requests permission to send SMS, for example, you don’t need to install it.
  • Malware removal: Android is designed to prevent malware from modifying the platform or hiding from you, so it can be easily removed if your device is affected. Android Market also has the capability of remotely removing malware from your phone or tablet, if required.
