One of their staff frequents here regularly - I suggest you put a call out for Felix Not all hosts necessarily have a toll free number (mine doesn't anyway) - e-mail support can be just as effective. They are from all accounts very good.

Tera-byte's reliability is excellent, and they have a refund policy if you are not satisfied. You might want to go direct to their head, Steve Keyser (steve@tera-byte.com) and fire him questions about that. Otherwise, very good host.

10 206.186.75.154 mtncable-gw-hamiltonhydro.on.ca 11 24.215.1.6 www.can-host.com this is from the trace to www.can-host.com hamiltonhydro.on.ca opens page of utility provider - i guess cable provider as well.

here is even more interesting DNS records for: can-host.com Non-authoritative answer: Server: ns.consumer-info.org Address: 209.207.246.162 when you go to 209.207.246.162 its forwardmy.com with services like "Operate your own domain name ... with e-mail ... for just $25/year. This service is for those who wish to operate a personal domain name without the monthly expense of a business account. "

finally whois record whois.arin.net 24.215.1.6 Mountain Cablevision LTD. (NETBLK-MTNCABLE-1) MTNCABLE-1 24.215.0.0 - 24.215.31.255 Mountain Cablevision LTD. (NETBLK-MNTN-HAHE1) MNTN-HAHE1 24.215.1.0 - 24.215.1.255

so my final question - Can-host operated on cable internet account or not?

What is so interesting about the information you have found, regarding 'can-host.com'? That really doesn't mean anything to me as a customer of can-host.com..

Forward/Reverse DNS - on IP Addresses absolutely mean nothing as far as I am concerned. Someone could have previously had the same ip addresses for the website as the Host you were referring to for only $25 p/year, get your own domain name. That really does not mean anything.

As far as them being with a cable provider. Im not real sure if they are co-located, or if they have there own NOC. I do know - that if they are on a cable modem, it doesn't mean anything to me either. The servers are fast, why should anyone care? That doesnt make any difference to me.

I highly doubt they are on a CABLE connection in the first place.

All of you newbie wanna-be, think you know it all - find all information which absolutely means nothing.

Find something else to do people, rather than searching around on people all day.

Don't post stuff like this unless you know what you're talking about (hint: you don't). You can skip the foul language, while you're at it.

In fact, we are buying bandwidth with MCV and using their routers. We are not running off cable modems, but dedicated 512 / 715kbps connections per servers.

If you wish to have more information on our servers, contact our Admin at admin@can-host.com and I'm sure he'll be pleased to help you more than I can.

In reply to all previous posts Re: Can-Host. I can confirm that they do infact have co-located servers on my 7200 core router at 512 and 768 kilo bits per second full sym. Their contract is open-ended and bandwidth can be increased as traffic increases on their servers with a phone call and purchase order. Our current bandwidth is aproaching 15 megs on a full 100FX fiber link. Currently we have full online ups and 7 days of backup generator under fully conditioned lines. Our up time is hitting four 9's reliability and we take pride in our resellers and the job that they do. Any comments or concerns can be directed to networking@mountaincable.net
