anyone using mysql on windows?

How stable is it?

Can one make it always be on even after a restart? Like it always needs to be on.

I have Mac OS X and it always stays on because it is a startup item.

I run MySQL 4.x and Apache on my dev win2k (and winxp at home) workstation. MySQL has never ever crashed on me, however Apache has several times =|

On win2k, when you install MySQL it should create a service in "control panel->admin tools->services". Just edit the properties for that and tell it to startup "automatically".

In Windows 2000/XP there are items called services. They run in the background w/ no visable interface and can be set-up to run automatically when Windows boots.

You have to install the MySQL as a service.

it's all here in the documenation.

mysql.exe -install <- something like that

Also, it's very stable and is pretty fast. It's faster on my *nix servers but we all know why..... lol

Mysql auto startup

Hello,
Yes, it can start when windows boots up. I have it set as a service wht AUTOMATIC setting. If you're having problems, try to delete your version and install the newest from www.mysql.org

I prefer linux though!
