1Gbps unmetered servers in multiple US cities
Hello,
I'm looking for some recommendations for dedicated server providers that can offer servers with 1Gbps unmetered traffic at multiple US locations.
The server requirements are pretty minimal:
- Xeon Quad Core, E3-12xx
- 8GB RAM
- 250GB+ disks in RAID1
- Gigabit Ethernet (of course!)
Good quality routes are key though (i.e. multiple 10GE transit links to each site).
In particular, the locations I'm interested in are as follows:
- Miami
- Atlanta
- Washington DC
- Dallas
- Denver
- New York
- Chicago
- Los Angeles
- Seattle
We know our traffic profiles: In some areas like NY, LA and DFW we can push ~200Mb/s, and in others we barely touch 50Mb/s. Our traffic is not anything that could be considered nefarious (like P2P, porn, file sharing, VPNs, etc).
We're not expecting ridiculously low costs for each site - we'd rather pay a bit more and get decent support from the networks team there. Some providers in the offers forum are advertising ~$400 for 1Gb/s unmetered dedicated servers - we're happy to pay more than that (although if we can buy in bulk we'd expect some kind of deal/discount).
If we could get all the locations from one provider it would be great (albeit unrealistic!), but in reality we'd like to keep the number of providers to a minimum.
If anyone has some suggestions I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Hello,
All the providers should be easily able to provide you with your requirements.
Email the companies you select for discount details on bulk order.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I'm particularly looking for suggestions of providers that can (a) fulfill many of the locations I mentioned and (b) those which others have had good experiences with.

Look at FDC servers in
- Denver
- Chicago
$400 would be low for dedicated unmetered server, you would need atleast $500+

Quadranet can handle Miami, Dallas, and Los Angeles, and has a good reputation for network quality.
I believe wizzsolutions focuses on users such as you, and resells a number of datacenter providers for high bandwidth applications. If wizz is selling a server out of La, Miami, or Dallas, it's probably quadranet. If they're selling a server out of a different location, it would be someone else.

Quadranet will meet some of the locations and would be great.
Definitely check out 100tb.com who uses Softlayer's network (I know they don't have the E3-1230's on their site, but maybe you could work something out?). I believe they will provide unmetered gige ports, but I know you cannot use it for CDN (SimpleCDN). Softlayer has locations in the sports where Quadranet doesn't and Softlayer's network is top notch.

Definitely avoid Quadranet. They are known scammers, with Chris Gotzmann (multiple names) ahead.

This has been rehashed many times and is blatently a lie.
Although I moved away from colocating at Quadranet a while ago, I still would consider using them again. In terms of cost, network quality, facilities quality, and support, you'll be hard pressed to find a combined offering that's better. There are nicer facilities out there, but they cost a lot more, and you definitely get a good product at a great price with Quadranet. If you search around the forums here, there's plenty of solid reviews to back this up.
Now, the kind of scuzzy people who came to me when I was looking to leave Quadranet, who seemed more interested in sticking it to Quadranet by "helping" me leave than they cared about having me as a client, those are the kind of people I would stay away from. Luckily those providers names are banned from even being spoken here on webhostingtalk. Let's test it out to see if that's still the case: ***********.

Can you quantify that statement?

Hi all, it seems this thread has started to move off-track.
samc2012, you have a lot of provider options since you are seeking services in cities that are known peering exchanges. It also sounds like you'll find a provider soon since you have realistic expectations and budgeting in mind.
Good luck!

I have several racks with Quadranet and have had no issues at all. They have the best support out of any datacenter I have been with. I would look into getting dedicated servers from them, their sales team might even be able to give you a good deal if you get multiple servers.

Read the fine print, most 1Gbps Unmetered providers limit the overall traffic per month and/or type of traffic (no CDN, etc....). 200Mbps 95% usage and you should be fine at the $400/month price range...but start using alot more, and either expect to get cut off, or realistically pay more. I'd be suspect to any deal that costs less than $1/Mbps for actual used bandwidth, as that is a a good guideline number many larger high-bandwidth providers base the pricing on factoring in all costs, usage patterns, etc...(at present time's carrier costs for transit).

As others mentioned Fdc, quadranet and 100tb can all help. Although the pricing will differ from one provider to the other with Fdc being the cheapest.

They can provide E3-1230's with no issues if you contact their sales. I don't know why they don't update their website with the new hardware offerings though.
