Install smartmontools via yum and use smartctl to run checks on your drives.

Hello,

Try this.

smartctl --all /dev/sda

If you HD is not /dev/sda, replace this with the name. You should be able to obtain this via df -h.

This will give you a SMART status of the drive, which I would start there. Do you have RAID on this system?

It will show you the SMART data for the drive. Just run it and see what it outputs.

Hello,

You might be able to run it from the rescue CD. What kind of hard drive is it?

Hello,

Download the Western Digital tool from http://support.wdc.com/product/downl...sid=30&lang=en and test your drives.

Download the .iso, burn it to a CD and then test both drives for any errors.
