Hello All! Total Newbie here...
Just wanted to introduce myself and state my purpose here.
I am located in Southern California, and have a small business, and thus I need a website.
Spent the last two weeks reading TONS of reviews about Hosting sites, and cannot make up my mind. SO I joined this Forum in the hopes that I can find the information to help me decide which Host to choose.
My intentions are to get money via Google's AdSense, and to sell a few things via a PayPal portal.
Those Reviews have good and bad about ALL Hosts, and I am extremely wary at this point.
Any information would be most appreciated!

Welcome to WHT!
You're in the right place.
My advice. Determine what you need in terms of resources, host location, your budget etc.
Have a look through the offers forum, pick one or two that meet your needs. Check for what feedback and reviews they have on here, fire off a couple of questions at random times of the day/night to judge response times and by then, you should have a couple of hosts to choose from.
Good luck!

Hi IronManSubby and welcome to Web Hosting Talk!
A couple points of great interest are the forum guidelines and this answer guide.

I have narrowed down a few specifics, and I will list them here:
1) probably going to need a VPS, as my online content will be designed to get TONS of traffic;
2) budget is adequate for most services, and am going to stay away from the $3 - 5.00 per month plans. They may be great plans, but you get what you pay for;
3) would prefer the Servers be in Los Angeles, or close to Los Angeles.
Discovering something new everyday, I saw a paragraph regarding DDOS attacks, which scared the bejesus out of me. The Host that provided info about DDOS attacks said that they GET RID of the Customer, as DDOS attacks cost the Host money. I believe that this may not apply to someone with a VPS, but am not sure.
Any info and recommendations would be most helpful.

This always applies. If your company is targeted by a DDoS (can happen to anyone) and you are unable to afford a protection service, you could find yourself out of business.

Hope I don't get in trouble for "bumping" this Thread, but I am the Total Newbie I say I am.
So New, I need to ask a dumb Q:
How can I ever get up to speed so I can understand what you guys/gals are discussing? What classes can I take, should I get a MS in CS, please tell me so I can start my education before I get too old...
