What do you think of this hosting deal ?

Hey

So, I have been looking for a new reseller for a little project. My friend just bought a deal from a website, for £30 he gets unlimited resellers and he can sell resellers as well.

So i don't have £30 a month so ha has offer me a normal resellers account for £8 a month. Which i can afford.

What do you think of the £8 a month deal ?

Thanks Alexander

It sounds like your friend is a Master Reseller. As long as it is from a well known provider, you are fine

Where is the server located?

I'm sure its better to go through a host. They will have full control. If there was to be a problem you contact them and they will fix it.

Going through your friend means that he needs to contact support then he/she contacts you.

I may not go for it because I don't belive in people who offer unlimited reseller hosting. How can it be? e.g. if your business grow suddenly and have 100,000 customers, how can he provide reseller hosting for your all customers at £30 per month? There got to be a limit in both bandwidth and web space.

Depends what he's offering. For a quid or two extra you could get your own Master Reseller account. TurnkeyInternet and EZPZ have offers in the reseller offers forum at the moment that should come in within your price range.

I'm guessing your friend isn't offering a WHMCS license, end user support etc. Have a good browse around before you decide.

That made no sense to me

Surely it's better to go direct with the top level supplier (i.e. the ones who own the servers and/or datacentre?) rather than a reseller?

And for reference, there's quite a few good alpha/master resellers out there. It might not be the most popular business model, but controlled and monitored correctly, there's no reason why it can't be reliable.

most of the Alpha/Master Providers start things, but after some time, disappear with all customers data and every thing! there are very rare alpha/master providers in market with good repu!

Agreed, although in fairness, Master and Alpha reseller is a niche market - so I wouldn't personally expect a lot of major names - there just isn't enough customers to justify it.

Master and Alpha is a niche of a niche - reselling is usually a stepping stone to a VPS or dedicated server, not everyone wants to go the route of Master or Alpha, they're happy to jump straight on to a VPS which is fine, but for those who want to build a little slower, Master and Alpha provide a good stepping stone, as long as (as with anything) you choose a good company to provide them.

I am personally not a big fan of Alpha/Masters, and the reason is, your server will over-sold in a lil time. EZPZ, innohosting, semoweb, kdisk, all are successful because they are offering very little disk space to start with.

Suppose

If you have a Dedicated Box, with 1000 Average customers can host on box, and you are offering alpha/master + shared hosting. You have 500 Shared Hosting Customers, +10 Alpha Reseller Customers
Total = 510 Customers
1 Alpha Reseller Sold 10 Master Resellers + 20 Shared Hosting Customers = 10+20+510 = 540
1 Master Reseller Sold 10 Resellers + 20 Shared Hosting Customers = 10+20+540 = 570
All Resellers Sold 20 Customers each, 10x20= 200 (200+570 = 770)
Go on-------------
Keep Counting!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not against Alpha/Master, but most of them are highly over-sold now a days!!!!

No, they're offering 'realistic' disk space - big difference.

Agree entirely, hence why I said that alpha/master isn't a bad thing, as long as you get it from a company that's well managed, doesn't offer 1TB of data and unlimited transfer for $5 a month.

A lot of it is common sense, which unfortunately a lot of people lack, which explains the sheer number of complaints that come on to this forum from people who've got 'stung' by a too-good-to-be-true deal that ends up to be the proverbial snake oil. People are too easily swayed by low prices and large resources, rather than considering what they actually need, and buying accordingly. This is true of all types of hosting, not just alpha and master.
