Is your phone rooted

I guess this is mainly for the Android users (i guess iOS can be jailbroken). How many of you guys are rooted and how many run an aftermarket ROM

Yup!

My Galaxy Nexus was stock for 3 hours, and was running AOKP with Franco kernel within the day. My RAZR is also rooted, running AOKP. Galaxy note is rooted, but with a stock ROM. Still rocking my old Motorola Milestone, been running CM 6 and now 7 for a year and a half now.

A whole 3 ours on Stock... harsh

When I got my EVO 3D, I had my younger brother drive my car home from the Sprint Store while I was in the back seat with my laptop rooting it. I basically walked out of the store, powered it off in the parking lot and it was rooted 10 minutes later . I had to build my own copy of CM7 for the EVO3D as the CM Team never released CM7 for the 3D

LOL! That was awesome! Would have been epic if you did it while in the store. The store manager would have ripped the warranty card in front of you.

Had to restrain from actually modding the Gnex when I got it. Wanted to tinker with stock ICS first before flashing a custom one.

I did that with my OG EVO actually. I had to get it replaced. They game me the new phone but lost my micro SD Card. They told me to sit in the lobby while they tore apart the back room

I went to my car and grabbed my laptop. I rooted it in the waiting area and had CM7 on it before they found the card.

I run a Galaxy Nexus with the stock ROM but I have rooted it.

The stock ROM works extremely well for me and I haven't seen a reason to change it. But on previous phones I have had great times playing around with stuff like this - flashing ROMs and hacking your phone can be addicting.

Rooted HTC Phone with a optimized Stock ICS ROM on 4.0.3. Pretty awesome. I do it mostly because of the lackluster backup solutions when you aren't rooted.

The benefits are great my friend. I suggest checking out XDA for more info if you're really interested.

BTW Sprint has no policy against rooting anymore. They just sometimes won't work on your phone if it has aftermarket firmware. Some cool/knowledgeable techs will though - depends on the individual.

I'm a big Android nerd. My primary phone is the Sammy GS2 Epic 4G Touch variety on Sprint. Running a custom flavor of the latest ICS leak for it.

Nope.
No real reason to do so on an android, OR on an iPhone any more.
Of course, there's always going to be the "do whatever you want with your phone" crowd, but I find less and less reason to root or jailbreak any more.

Prior to ios5, I had one reason to jailbreak... Alert tones. Now that that's in here (and yeah, some of mine are purchased, some converted from songs I own), I got nothing.

Hah! I can tether without a jailbreak on my blackberry bold

After jailbreaking my ipad 2 though, I'll have to say I will probably jailbreak whatever new phone I get in June if available.

Rooted on a stock ROM cause there's no development for my phone (Kyocera Echo) plus the only reason I need root is for Titanium Backup and WiFi Tether so z4root does the job well.
