    Starting A Hosting Company.

    Hello,
I would like to start my own Minecraft hosting company. I got a couple of question though.
#1 is this dedicated good enough?
    I7 4x 2(HT)x 2.66+ GHZ
    64bit
    24 Gb ram
    2TB hardisk
-------------------------------------------------------------------How am i supposed to do it? I will use Ubuntu 10.4. Is it just to install Minecraft servers on the Dedicated and then tell the IP or what?
Also would it be worth buying Multicraft?

    Hope somebody can answer

No, that server would not be a good choice for minecraft. I'd advise hiring a server admin or consultant familiar with minecraft hosting.

Buy a cheap VPS, test it out by installing minecraft and various control panels.

Find one with hardware RAID 10. Also better drives like SAS or SSDs would be ideal.
I'd go with less ram per box - about 16 GB should do and a higher clocked CPU (3.0 Ghz or higher is ideal)

Also, getting a control panel is advised unless you know how to manage a server.

When you say control panel, do you then mean like Multicraft?

Yes, may also want to consider McMyAdmin.

Congrats on wanting to start your new venture! I would recommend, at least a server - grade processor. i7s are really just desktop quality processors.

I would highly recommend this. You may not want to sell MC Slots on a VPS but it will give you somewhat of an idea of what you're going to use in your production environment.

Hey mate, the Dedicated specs seem fine for a bit, however remember you need more RAM than HDD, however move away from Ubuntu and stick with Centos 5.5 because Ubuntu isn't really Hosting material.

The minecraft server market is already filled to the brim with kids reselling Kimsufi who don't know their left from right, do everyone a favour and move on rather than tarnishing it even more.

I thought you were supposed to use a Godaddy unlimited plan for Minecraft?
    Dedicated servers cost too much.

If you get say 23GB Ram or higher your be fine, however if you want to use Multicraft, you could buy a vps, and sell of players and that i'm told by a mate. However i'm not a big fan of Minecraft myself I've played it however.
