Need a inexpensive shared host with no php file size upload limit
I have a client that with a basic WP site that I have installed a client portal script on to allow them to upload files for clients and vice versa. Only problem is I learned after setup that they need BIG file capability. They have files as large as 300mb or more. My current reseller host (Hostgator) has a 64mb file size limit for php uploads.
Does anyone know of or can they sell me an inexpensive share with a decent amount of disk space and transfer? This will not be a high volume site. I can't guess at exact transfer but maybe max they would have five or six of these files up and down each day.
I am aware that dedicated and VPS can be setup this way, but this is a low budget project and there was no budget for that since we had assumed we could use our reseller account to house the client. Now we are trying to live up to our promise and not lose money :-)

Have you tried following this? Looks like you can change the max size (don't know if you can go to 300MB though) : http://forums.hostgator.com/php-file...it-t13618.html / http://forums.hostgator.com/increase...ze-t19143.html

300MB for PHP uploading is not realistic. I can only guess you don't really understand PHP all that well. Even if you allowed larger sizes, you'd hit timeouts. If you extend timeouts to ungodly long windows, you'll really fubar the way the site functions.

You are correct that I don't understand PHP that well. Assuming robust upload bandwidth I don't understand why it is unrealistic but maybe you can explain further. On our Comcast business class line I can push a 300mb file upstream in a matter of less than 10 minutes I think. Is that for sure going to break the php script? Can't you just set the timeouts higher? At what filesize does it become so unrealistic in your opinion? I have it set to 64mb now and that works just fine.

hostgator imposes a max file size of 64mb for php uploads on all shared hosting accounts. You can only change the limit higher on dedicated or VPS.

If you need a special requirements, you better just go for vps or dedicated server.
Sooner or later, you will not feel comfortable in shared hosting setup.

Your best bet is to get a cheap VPS/dedicated server, gonna have to open up your budget though.

Your client needs to learn how to FTP.

Most of the hosts restricts max upload size to 64M. If you need more size to upload you can contact to host.
