Can I ask them this?
Hi,
Currently hosted in New York with Reliablesite.net. We have a server there which have been on and off on the performances side: sometimes we get massive hitches +100 ms, not caused by any load on the server (cpu usage/disk/ram is below 5%). It seems to be a switch problem...
When I do monitor the IP block right next to mine, in the same range, the latency hitches are synchronized to mine, perfectly. No need to ask me again and try to fix the problem, it's trying to fix the unfixable...
The thread talking bout it was there:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1129125
What if I ask them to completely change the server, from A to Z, i.e. change server box, change IP, switch/VLAN, etc etc?
This is not something I'd ask twice, but hell, it wouldn't hurt to try, b/c we are currently affected by this, very much.
What would you, hosts, would say on such a demand?
I'm clueless with that problem completely clueless and deeply pissed. Enought is enought, we've almost lost 2 months in money, our traffic got many times killed my this plague.
The question is out...
After many analysis I cannot find the problem, I've passed out every bit of data I could catch, inspected every possibility, etc.
I need this fixed unless I'll end up writing a bad review, legitimately, and this is not something I like/want.
I simply feel totally powerless.
I had hosted the exact same setup on a previous Chicago based host and we never got a single problem.
And the fact another IP block get the same hitches than I can't be a coincidence.
What do you think of this?
Cordially,
iNfrared0

You can ask them anything you like, and if you don't like the answer you can find a new host. Issues like these are typically the result of underpowered switches, or not having enough uplinks and facing saturation issues (during DDOS attacks etc). Ask them to move you to a new switch with plenty of bandwidth capacity.

What are you achieving by posting this here?
Contact reliablesite.net directly and ask. The staff is usually willing to go out of their way to help out, at least that has been my experience.
Just for the record though, my uptime with reliablesite.net has been pretty great so far, and pingdom nothing out of the ordinary the past week for ping times, pretty flat line.0

I will ask again, what are you gaining by posting this question here instead of asking them directly? It's not obvious to me, especially since they already said they can do it for you in the first reply.
Did you read what I said? Pingdom reports flat latency, no irregular spikes, not talking about uptime here, just latency.
Just send them an email and let them help you because you already mentioned that no one here can do anything about your problem.0

Look Kim, I won't start arguing back and forth on what I gain asking such question and so on.
You did not even answer the fundamental question of this thread.
Your pingdom stuff is not necessarily giving an extensive look at the performances, my server can still have bad perfs whilst yours have good.
Why the hell are you even talking to me about this?
I also answered to the first thread, I am thankful, don't you read?
What are you trying to achieve arguing all out like this?
You think I wan't to bash the host? Not at all, If that would have been my intent I'd have written a review and cancelled my subscription.
I still want to work this out.
I will say it once, the purpose of this thread is to know whether or not it's a reasonable demand. Wow, look at the first post, read it damnit.
With the tech fees and everything, some hosts would certainly refuse or charge fees, isn't it obvious?Last edited by iNfrared; 03-13-2012 at 08:54 PM.

I'm sorry if I sounded harsh, I have been reading a lot of threads and it just seems that customers are using wht as a helpdesk at this point. This is one of those things where it doesn't really matter what any host says, it comes down to what your provider will do to help you out.
I posted my information because I have a lot of servers and thought that it would give you an indication that it isn't network related, but maybe hardware or switch.0

Ah cmon, don't start another drama.
I've got enought bad experiences, I'm careful now, I first look for general approbation, to have arguments in case of conflict. It's not against WHT to proceed like this, your reproaches are off.
You're not helpful here saying im an assh0le. I hope you do not even try to answer back.
I've been very polite as much as I know, but I felt attacked.
Thread should be closed... I've got what I wanted.
ThanksLast edited by iNfrared; 03-13-2012 at 10:44 PM.
