South America low end server
Hello everyone,
searching for a low-end dedicated server in South America. I'm not interested for servers located in Florida. It will be used to host games for an old game(Warcraft 3).
Also i found one server and since i'm not from SA, I would ask people from SA from this forum to do this and post results here:
- Download Winmtr from here: http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/
- Run Winmtr. It should look like this:
http://forum.i3d.net/attachments/gen...tr-winmtr4.png - Under host enter this ip adress: 186.202.62.196 and click start
- After ~40 sec press stop and export text.
- Results from text file copy/paste here.
- Also please leave your location (Brasil, Chile, Argentina...)
Thank you.

Looks like it's inside LocaWeb.
inetnum: 186.202/16
aut-num: AS27715
abuse-c: HOSIT
owner: Locaweb Servi?os de Internet S/A
They don't allow gaming in their network.

BAD mistake.
Sorry, I know you said don't mention Florida, but please don't fall into the trap of believing that the Internet travels in straight lines and getting a server close to your game players is always the best solution. It isn't. In the well interconnected USA or Europe, then yes, it's less of an issue. But for areas (continents) without serious Internet Exchanges it's a major issue.
Whilst you've since been put off the provider you were researching, I'll still use the test IP you gave as an example.
Punching the IP into http://whois.domaintools.com gives you the AS number (AS27715)
Punching AS27715 into Robtex gives you the peering and eyeball info. http://www.robtex.com/as/as27715.html#peer
So any of your game players on providers on that (short) list stand a chance of getting a reasonable connection to the test IP. Anyone else, head for Miami and the Nap of the Americas.
Your (small) group of good connects will love you, the rest will not like having to go to Miami and back (double latency) and will, potentially, head off to find someone with a server with lower latency
