Need a New Dedicated Server - Not hapy with WiredTree
Hi,
I have been with wiredtree for some years now. And I am not satisfied with their service anymore. Any other good managed hosting company will be good then wiredtree as the skill level there has went down significantly. I have a big-board forum and some sites with it.
I am looking for a Dedicated server my budget is 600$ to 700$.
Please do not send me offers <<because that's not allowed>>
Thank YouLast edited by bear; 03-03-2012 at 01:13 PM.

Do you have cPanel? I ask because having it opens some options on management.

Hivelocity. For that budget you can get a pretty decent beast.

Your server ran out of memory and used up all of it's swap space and had to be rebooted. It took awhile to reboot because it was lagged out and we were trying to get in and gracefully shut it down rather than just hard power cycling it. This problem isn't anything to do with us really. It means your server is overloaded. This can happen anywhere. I agree our staff probably could have rebooted it faster, but when you are trying to log into a severely lagged out system, it takes time. Are there any other issues you would like to make me aware of? It looks like our staff is helping you with that issue. The database issue you are having now that the server is back up looks to be from high load, but our staff has still been going back and forth with you on this. This ticket was opened right before you made this post.

Yes, I did. I think there is some confusion that when you called they said someone was in the datacenter working on it, but you mis-interpreted that as "After 25 min i called again, he said we have a problem in some datacenter and we are working on it. I was like so that means Nothing will be done for my site because something else happened. He said there are larger things for us to worry about." which is not what we meant. We meant someone was in the datacenter working on your server. If there is something else, PM me and I will be happy to discuss. I think there is some miscommunication going on.

Is that a $600-$700/yr or per month budget? If I assumed per year, would I be correct?

I'd recommend for you to try and work things out with WiredTree first, especially if you have been happy with them overall in the past. Miscommunications can happen anywhere and it sounds like that is the issue here. Whether or not the confusion was on WiredTree's part or yours, is a different subject altogether.
If they still can't help you after trying to work with Zac, then perhaps you can shop around again.

Good management is not cheap, simply because good and skilled staff members command a high wage. But $600-$700 / month is indeed enough budget to get a
mid-end server and good management on top.
But in this case, based on what Wiredtree said, upgrading the memory might just do the trick.█ Swiftway.net Your Business deserves our Quality - Experts on Hand since 2005. Europe & US locations, we operate our own network AS35017 Support response time <15 minutes 24/7

Why don't you look for a high end server with enough RAM and hire third party management services like PSM to mange it (They are pretty good with cPanel). This budget will get you a good server with quality hardware.
