    * Dr Dre Headphones

So I got a pair of those beats today, (Tour)

I have to say, they are very good sound quality! The price is very steep but they are good.

    Anyone else own a pair?

It is just branding. How can some song writer or rapper design a good quality headphone? It has to be engineers.

Indeed, I've listened to a pair of $600 "Dr Dre's" and whilst yes, they're good, I'd much rather sink the money into a pair of Sennheiser's as they sound literally amazing.

    You're paying for the name.

The same could be said about footballers who bring out their own brand of aftershaves...

Completely agree here. I've never been unhappy with Sennheisers, even the low end ear buds are incredible. I have a set of PX-200II travel phones that blow away some full head models I own from other companies. True quality.

Ditto! I love my Sennheisers! The bass is amazing, even with their in ear monitors.

What Sennheisers are we talking about? Otherwise you're just paying for the brand there too!

Dr Dre Beats have some surprisingly good feedback, there's loads of el cheapo knock offs going around for sure though (which themselves get good feedback too so it makes me wonder). I haven't had a chance to listen to them though, but everyone's ears are different.

I personally have pair of Audio Technica ATH-700 headphones. Pretty awesome for the price and performance.

    Greetings,

I have the Sennheiser CX 150 and they're brilliant earphones. They're not too expensive at all (rather low end perhaps) and blow the "brands" out of the water any day.

    The travel phones:

Both have brilliant sound. Just noticed the prices they list. Way higher than I'd paid.

Honestly, in my opinion sennheiseers sound just as good, if not better! You're paying for the "brand name" and in some cases, the "brand name" really is better (generally for accessories and clothes like Chanel/Hermes) but in this case, nope! But don't worry, not saying your dre's are bad, they're certainly nice, just over priced

I was going to get Beats but went for Sennheiser instead. Couldn't be happier, the quality is so good that I can't even listen to music using cheaper headphones now.

    Definitely recommended.

If you must buy beats headphones, be very weary of anyone selling them below RRP (ebay) because they are almost certainly fake. That goes for Sennheiser too.

Couldn't agree more. There are lots on eBay priced around 40- 50 pounds. Its a complete rip off they must be fake. I know fakes do not cost that much either so there must be a massive markup on those!

    Avoid!

Sennheiser is actually a German brand - as far as I know, their products are available globally.

Bose qc3 for me. Heard good things about Sennheiser but the clarity of sound and quality of music is amazingly good with a Bose system.

Beats by Dre Headphones are definitely over priced. If you are going to spend that much money for a pair of headphones, go with AKG specifically the K 171 MK II (model), will truly blow you away.
