Thanks for posting this. It is very interesting indeed.
I saw a random speech by Charlie Chaplin after watching this, and it was brilliant.

engineering/systems wise, no system that requires constant growth can be stable. you wont find such systems. systems are generally designed to be redundant (applies to all fields not only hosting) and failsafe.
our current socioeconomic system, requires growth. its not sustainable.

Solar defo the way forwards. If we could emulate natures photosynthesis and it's ability to fix carbon as a stored energy source we would be sorted.

you need to fix the growth-requiring socioeconomic system before though. because, just as the video explains, if system constantly requires growth, nothing short of infinite energy source plus infinite space can suffice.

If we can survive long enough to do deep space travel we will be AOK. Once we reach that point we can start harvesting stars for power.

The Inception version is my favorite:

I saw this today, pretty much the same information that I've picked up through the Zeitgeist Movement and Venus Project.

dont know. may be otherwise. now, many people are already using a limited set of amenities available to/owned by them already. the number of appliances, comforts found in an average home, is already limited. we are mainly working to maintain those luxuries/comforts, with a promise/possibility of acquiring more. but, few acquire more actually, 85% of society lives in same standards for their life. and those who acquire more, dont acquire paranormally more stuff either. those who have more through working/succeeding more, cant find the time to utilize what they have more than others too. in the end the amount of activities a person can engage is humanly limited.
so in the end even our luxuries are generally limited.
there is nothing preventing a stable situation in our lives if we are able to provide each member in a society these average amenities a healthy person can use in their life while still having a 8 hours good night's sleep.
there's already this 'zero generation' thing - you know, how recently the youth started to just keep 1-2 pairs of jeans, dont have the excessive pointless consumption fever that buys unneeded stuff just to feel better etc. i read it about somewhere.
