Where can i get a storage VPS (not just for backups)?
Hi all,
I'd like a Storage VPS 128mb ram 128mb burst would be fine... disk space the more the better and matching on the bandwidth.
this thing will just be used to dump files on (not neccessarily all backups, but copies of program's etc for safe keeping/ Legal sharing)
i've looked around buyvm does storage vps's(doesn't have any stock) i have a backup vps from secure dragon (but that can only be used for backups.... no good)
there must be someone somewhere that offers vps's with loads of storage and smaller amounts of ram?
thanks for anyone's help
joe

What kind of space, Joe? Also, do you have a preferred location?
Your main issue will most likely be bandwidth as opposed to space.

Location isn't important
what is important is i can dump a load of stuff one it really quickly (most likely server to server) and not get shutdown because i'm not using it for backups (which is why i haven't even attempted it on my securedragon vps i can't have it being terminated)
disk space say 50GB-100GB
bandwidth double-triple the disk space? 150-300GB?
thanks
joe

They should be pretty easy to find
Are you dumping data from other VPS's on to it? You could ask your current provider(s) if they can accommodate that kind of request.

I'm a bit confused. By "dump a load of stuff on it really quickly" do you mean moving webservers over or files? If you mean the later then that should be allowed by any backup provider. A backup isn't determined by the length of time data is kept for.

no i don't want to move webservers the web server is fine where it is.
i want something i can install nagios nrpe on (to monitor usage) setup rsync, ftp possibly samba (maybe not) and stick stuff on it
by really quickly i mean quick enough, for example the 1gbps connected backup vps i have with you is quick (but i think 100mbps would be enough).
thanks
joe

Can't you just ask a sales department for a custom quote? "I need ____ mb of RAM, ____ gb of disk space and _____ of bandwidth". You can either get a custom package to fit your needs or try to fit into a package "box" that may or may not suite your needs.

vps.net allows you to add storage to your VPS/Cloud Server.
