Any views on Namecheap?
I think I may have made a mistake by choosing Namecheap shared hosting for hosting a bunch of simple wordpress sites because in the last week at least I have noticed the speed at which my sites are loading to be sub optimal. On both occasions they have tried to wash their hands off it by saying that it may be my internet connection may be slow.
I am not an expert but a trace of my site looks like this:
1 ip-10-228-12-2.eu-west-1.compute.internal 9.237000465393066 ms
2 ip-10-1-4-5.eu-west-1.compute.internal 4.741000175476074 ms
3 ip-10-1-4-255.eu-west-1.compute.internal 7.754000186920166 ms
4 ec2-79-125-0-5.eu-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com 4.973999977111816 ms
5 178.236.0.57 8.383999824523926 ms
6 178.236.0.69 5.210999965667725 ms
7 178.236.0.195 9.10200023651123 ms
8 dln-b2-link.telia.net 5.716000080108643 ms
9 ldn-bb1-link.telia.net 75.70500183105469 ms
10 ldn-b5-link.telia.net 15.937999725341797 ms
11 globalcrossing-ic-135890-ldn-b5.c.telia.net 43.85900115966797 ms
12 Internap-Ken-Schmid-PHX.ge-3-1-0.404.ar5.phx1.gblx.net 143.60800170898438 ms
13 border1.po1-bbnet1.phx008.pnap.net 144.65699768066406 ms
14 namecheap-1.border1.phx008.pnap.net 144.52699279785156 ms
15 s41.web-hosting.com 145.5229949951172 ms
Which seems to show that their servers are slow. Am I right in thinking that I should leave Namecheap?
Has anyone else had similar problems?
An suggestions?
Thanks
Nubie

That traceroute doesn't really show anything related to actual site performance. The higher pings are because you're doing this from Europe to USA.

I'd try asking for their network department/engineers to look into your issue, to have your ticket/request escalated. It may be a simple fix that the network end will have to be performed.
Good luck!

Thanks Orien. I tried using some services emulating location for example with the exact same response (e.g. I used pingdom.com which uses servers in New York) and according to them 80% of delay was waiting for server response:
Wait 80.28%
Connect 14.87%
Receive 3.97%
DNS 0.86%
Send 0.01%
I am really new to this. Would love your opinion on how best to get to the bottom of this.
Thanks

Where is the facebook like button when we need it. I fully agree with this and ironically it is something shared with most domain registration companies (such as GoDaddy).
Your best bet, purchase the domains from a Domain Company (namecheap is the best IMHO) and purchase your hosting from a hosting company.

This is great advice. In your view is 1&1.co.uk a good Domain Company or a good Hosting Company. If not, just a straw poll of which is the best Hosting Company to which I can move to (luckily, I only signed up a 3 month contract with namecheap)

The general rule is this:
1. Never buy hosting from a domain registrar.
2. Never buy domains through a host.
Keep them separate. Buy the company's primary product, not the "me too" product.
Some registrars/hosts should be avoided altogether: Godaddy, 1&1, EIG brands.

I used to use NameCheap hosting for all of my personal stuff for a short time, I dropped it after a few months. I was experiencing some network issues and they couldn't bill me right either.

Hello, There are hundreds of hosting companies that fit that requirement. Of course if we knew a few more items, we can advise a few choices.
1) Monthly Budget
2) Location
3) Control Panel
4) Any special requirements (ffmpeg/pgsql/etc)

You might want to read all the reviews on 1 and 1 before you even consider using them. Not good!

I am testing them as well and my sites speed is nice. Granted, they do not receive much traffic and are simple Wordpress sites, but I am not paying much either. I am enjoying the $1 reseller offer and I hope to renew beginning of next month.
I had a couple of questions and they're fast and helpful. Their hosting department is actually run by web-hosting.com, from what I've understood reading their ToS and they seem competent.
