    US Web Hosting Recomendations

Can I get some recommendations about (preferably) US based web hosting solutions? I need a Windows web based hosting for ASP.NET 4.0. I'm looking into using Umbraco for my CMS and I will also be developing some other ASP.NET web apps to run on my site as well. I'm trying to find a company that has a 3 or 4 month contract and won't run over $160 a year.

I've heard a lot of great things about SoftSys and would be interestd in using them, but I just can't pay the yearly fee right now in order to get their low price.

This is going to be used for a personal web site, but I might convert it into more of a business sited in the near future. I want to find a company that I can grow into, maybe I'll eventually move to a VPS plan if things work out.

    I've looked at
    • arvixe.com
    • softsyshosting.com
    • accu web hosting
    • mochahost.com
    • discountasp.net

Anyone have good/bad experiences to say about these companies or is there someone else you would recommend?

    Thanks!

If you are looking to upgrade to a VPS down the road you may want to consider looking at the hosts and see who has upgrade options to VPS and how easy the upgrade would be. Check if you can get your data migrated or you will need to do everything manually

arvixe.com would be the best out of that list!

I've use Arvixe.com basic and they have issues with:

    1. FTP
    2. Cpanel

    Some times!

Thumbs down Stay away from mochahost

    Hi there,...
I hope you will find the Best solution for your needs,
so far from my own experience i have use only 2 providers for windows hosting.

The first one was ************ and the 2nd ReliableSite.net.

************ was fine but as the company grow start to charge extra for domain pointer, extra ip's and finally want to prepay the whole year for them services. That was the reason i moved from them to Reliablesite.net

i am a customer of Reliablesite.net since 2010 till now
my web application has grown like a monster, but it still run smoothly with their services.

now as for discountasp, they have the reputation of being the BEST asp.net provider, i have never try them so i cant tell.

Arvixe as well seems decent but i have never try them as well.

@Hostbro, Have you try all the providers from the list and you recommend Arvixe? or just Arvixe?
( i am really curious about their services so if anyone has experience with them please share)

@top hosting, same question for you based on your experience have you try the other providers or just discountasp?

The only one i can recommend is Reliablesite.net because this is the one i am using and so far have no issues at all. (support tickets and mail maybe its a bit slow but its acceptable, i would prefer a chat system for support )

    good luck !

(i dont know why but for the 1st name of the company it automatically change it to ******* , perhaps i hit a trigger PM if you need the name of company)

Just stay away from mochahost, unfortunately they do self-voting on internet to show their service is reliable while I had lots of bad experience with them and always my website loaded so slowly or no connection to database. always their control panel had problem and no control over my domains and sub domains. and totally I can say, no availability and reliability. their customer service are also not qualified to resolve your problems in a timely manner and you will lose your visitors. read more about my stories with this company here

I also filed a complain to this place , you can also see how many people officially complained about this hosting company.

I bought the unmanaged VPS service from softsyshosting 3 weeks ago. Everything working fine for 1st week. And 2 & 3 weeks I didn't RDP to the VM. Just found out today RDP is not working anymore. My applications still accessible through web browser at this point. I created ticket and they want to charge me $50/hr for troubleshooting. Of course I am not going to pay for fixing this nonsense problem. Later I got feedback telling me the RDP port had been changed by "me"! OMG...definitely not me, I don't know how to do such thing. Well, later they're kind enough to "fix" the problem for me, for free . But...I still can't RDP and worst thing is my application not accessible via web browser now. Thanks to softsyshosting.

Luckily I choose to pay monthly for try out, and my application not in production yet. Start searching for another hosting provider.

I'm not aware of your issue but typically we never make any changes in customer's VM unless we are specifically asked to do so.In case of fully managed server, we do act proactively for certain issues. If you are on UnManaged VM, custom support is chargeable. If you'll like me to review your ticket, please PM me your ticket #.

    Ticket # 379541.
You can do whatever you want on the VM since I no longer able to RDP the machine, waiting for expiration.

Most of the top results for webhosting are terrible hosts anyway. There's one thing they all have in common though, a lot of advertising money.
