Looking for a cheap un-managed VPS host
Due to the sudden closure of FuseVPS announced today after a node that they had got disconnected from SoftLayer for abuse. Unfortunately, I had a server on the node that was disconnected. No backups (yet) to be produced from them...but anyway.
I am looking for a cheap, un-managed, USA East Coast VPS with the following specs (Similar to what FuseVPS was providing)
1-core of 2.6Ghz Xeon (OpenVZ)
2GB RAM
40GB HDD
400GB Bandwidth
Ubuntu 10.10 (I would prefer to have Linux over Windows if possible)
I was paying $16.95 p/m for this service that was pretty solid imo.
Uses for this server:
Apache with MySQL (A vBulletin site)
A Counter-Strike: Source game server (24-slot)
A Counter-Strike: 1.6 game server (24-slot)
A TeamSpeak 3 Server.
I will be able to go to $20 p/m and at a stretch $25 if what is provided is good.
Thanks in advance everyone!

OpenVZ doesn't allow running Windows, but you shouldn't have much trouble with your request.

Hello,
I just wanted to leave a quick post regarding what has happened since the time I posted this thread.
After looking about at reviews and various other sites, I have went with IntoVPS.
We are starting off with the $20 package but due to the gameservers that we are running on it, we require more RAM, so I am going to get other people to contribute to the cost of the $40 package.
If anyone from IntoVPS is reading this, I would like to say, Your service is great and was really happy when I seen that apache2 was already pre-installed. We have had no problems with the server and hopefully we can be loyal customers with you's for many many months to come.

Speaking from a budget providers point of view we wouldn't allow game-servers due to high CPU usage so i cant imagine 2x Game-servers and a TS3 server. I have never really understood providers that do allow this on a budget platform, unless the people i have seen running game-servers have been doing something wrong.

I would check out lowendbox.com, that would be your best bet to find a decent provider meeting your budget and requirements.
To be honest. I'm not surprised at FuseVPS having there nodes or servers deactivated. I mean you figure they were using Softlayer rented dedicated servers, and offering very low priced virtual server plans, and you have to figure they were either loading them nodes up 100%, or maybe overselling. Relating to what @VMPort says, it's shocking it lasted this long. The provider allowing all that to be ran on a budget platform. I'm shocked they lasted this long..
I remember when they first started, and I tried out one of there trial servers and this was a month or so when they first launched it, I had very poor performance and the node I was on, was already failing from signs of overselling. I canceled after 1 week. The hardware they are using, well at least the node I was on, is actually decent hardware but only for a budget-platform and the node I wasn't using did not have RAID10 drives, so, I wouldn't be surprised if your data is lost for good if the node was pulled by Softlayer, I do not think they will be able to recover there data.. It's shocking this is the first thread I've seen about them, they had quite a following in Q1 of 2011 on lowendbox, when I actually tried em. It wasn't worth the $5 bucks I was paying.
@VampiricPadraig,
What was the announcement or reason they provided you if you don't mind me asking, or if you care to share?
Also, is the company still ran by a one guy? with help from a guy that pops in and out? I remember a convo on LET about that. I believe the guy's name is Jack, and there is a guy that helped him named Joe. Is it still ran like that?
But I would check out Lowendbox.com, You can also try QuickWeb, I do know they offer VPS's in the same data center, and are reliable and affordable. I believe they offer all of Softlayers locations too, not just Dallas, TX like FuseVPS. I would give them a shot.

Avoid this at all costs. It is impossible to sell 2 GB VPS's for $7 and make a profit unless the servers are extremely overloaded.
Take a look at BurstNET's unmanaged Linux VPS accounts.
1.5 GB of RAM is $20
2.5 GB of RAM is $30
They do not have a 2 GB plan, but they may be able to make you a custom package for around $25.
Or you could go with two 1 GB VPS's at $10 each and split things up -- use one for Apache/MySQL/Teamspeak server, and the other for the game servers. Or however else you want -- I don't know how much memory is required by each application you are running.
I have been with BurstNET for 9 months, with 3 VPS accounts. One 1 GB VPS running as a production web and email server, one 512 MB VPS running as a production MySQL and DNS server, and one 512 MB VPS as a development and testing platform. Things have worked out great for me with BurstNET.
My 9-month BurstNET review
