VPSville HORRIBLE support!
This past week I submitted my site to JoeAnt, they wrote back saying the listing was declined because their software McAfee said the site was a threat.
I knew for a fact that there was nothing on my site so I did some research and found that the IP I was assigned was blacklisted back in 2010 by several malware / virus sites.
I contacted VPSville support and they told me the IP was clean even after I gave them the links to the data I had found. They told me "Don't blame us for their list, or expect us to stop using an IP that had a bad customer on it 2 years ago. All IPs are re-used, its up to the lists to be accurate."
So my new site is being harmed because VPSville refuses to take any responsibility for the actions of their previous customer!
Instead of just giving me a new IP, they have told me that I can contact McAfee and all the sites that have identified the IP as bad and get them to update their list. WTF is it my responsibility to do that? WHAT have I done to deserve this? Paid them a nice fee for hosting and get stuck with an IP thats dirty as CRAP!
I am so ticked off right now!

Have you tried contacting management or calling them?
The host should take full responsibility for their IPs and do what needs to be done to get them un-blacklisted. I'm not familiar with VPSville but they may come on here and try to clear things up with you.KnownHost Managed VPS Specialists

Well unfortunately who ever has been responding to my ticket doesnt think so. They've told me that I can follow up with McAfee and all other sites that list the IP as a risk. The responder said they cant be held responsible for what someone did on their servers 2 years ago.
I asked who was giving support and I asked for a number I could call them at - they never responded to either of those questions.
Simply searching the IP on Google brings up plenty of info about the IP and where the issues came up - this particular support person didn't seem to care about that info and took no responsibility at all for their IP.
I requested that it would be simple for them to change give me a new IP, one that was clean and they again ignored those comments.
Not at all happy with them tonight and as such posting with a lot of (IMO very just) anger.

Wow, that is some support. I cant believe they would actually treat a paying customer like that and say something such as that. Dont understand how some of these VPS companies expect to stay in business and keep their clients when treating them that way.

Anyone know a good host in the UK that has great support?
Clearly VPSville is not interested in providing quality support, let alone a quality product ... maybe I upset them as my site has been down all day! New site has gotten a total of 10 visitors today and the memory usage is topping out (256 with 1024 burstable) - BS!

So the crux of this complaint is whether the IP was blacklisted back in 2010 or recently.

Sounds suspicious because if it was something as simple as from 2010, an additional IP being issued / swapped out with the old one would have solved this problem.

This happens most the time, but contacting data center and getting the IP back to whitelist is no issue, it takes a bit time but it is possible.
But it is not indeed the host issue If some one use IP for some bad purposes.

I would love to see where this was "recent" - thats a crock of you know what!
I have never done anything malicious with a website in my life!
Now since I posted here you decide to delete my account!

Exactly! And simply searching the IP on Google will show when these issues came up! Plenty of sites show the IP and what was going on.
I have been very proactive with this - once JoeAnt told me their software alerted the IP I went to vpsville and got horrible support. I asked for assistance and got spit on! I also went straight to McAfee to ask them to help me get my site (IP) cleared. I shouldnt have to do the host work for them, but I know I am totally innocent and wanted to this fixed!
This all started on a Friday evening late ... then Saturday Sunday, A holiday (presidents day ... NOW that I post here the host says they are deleting my account WITHOUT ever doing anything at all to find the cause of the issue!
If they actually delete my account and give no refund this wont be the last forum I post on! I'll employ a dozen or more article writers to spread the story on every hosting site online! I just paid for a years worth of hosting in NOV, if they stick it to me knowing I am totally innocent I am going to be more than hot.

A reason to why it's not a good idea to pay for a year. If you use big companies, that has good reputation, maybe paying for a whole year is a good thing. All other times it's better to pay month by month or so.

I just dont understand why a company would do this to a customer!
I come to them asking for help - could they not run a scan on the server to see if there is anything there? How hard would that be? IF anything was there I sure didnt put it there. I visit the site and Kaspersky does not alert to anything. Google webmaster tools shows no malware on the site. And when searching the IP on google issues found date back to early 2010. The fact that some research sites have not updated their list is not my fault.
I'm just totally lost why a company would want to screw a customer over; it makes no sense and is IMO seriously pathetic!
The website that McAfee shows associated with these issues is a media sharing service - NOT my site! Thats information that is easy to obtain, yet they want to punish me? WHY? WHY? Because I came here and posted about the horrible support Ive gotten? Geeesh who is running the company?
Anyone with this site who wants more info I will be glad to provide it to you.Last edited by baconbits; 02-21-2012 at 01:01 PM.

First of all, we haven't done anything to you yet. We just asked you to take care of the McAfee listing and stop doing whatever you did to get listed in the first place. We have to take those lists seriously.
What we got in return was rudeness and various threats to write bad reviews, take legal action etc. We certainly take those seriously as well and they certainly don't persuade us to be lenient with you.
Please remove your data from the server ASAP. You are no longer welcome at VPSVille.
What I don't understand is why you are hanging on tooth and nail to stay with a company you hate and want to sue?

I have NEVER done anything to have YOUR IP listed on McAfees list! The IP is on a list based on what your customers did back in 2010 and you have been absolutely no help getting that issue rectified! As such I have every reason to be upset and post about my experience!
Fact is if I had never come to you asking for help with the issue you would have never known about it, becaue my domain/site is not whats causing issues with McAfee - its the IP and the domain that was hosted back in 2010!
My threats to hire article writers and my mention of sending this info to my lawyer came AFTER your horrible support! Based on your lack of professional support I figured you would try to keep my money - that is when the lawyer will get involved!
If you want to conduct business like this - you dont deserve to be in it!
EDIT:
And you say youve done nothing to me yet - thats a lie! You disabled FTP so I can not download the site!

Their are a ton of companies that have listed on WHT that have turned up to be scams in the end. Just have to do research and read reviews like this one with a grain of salt to see which is good or not. Also as a general rule of thumb, unless the company has been in business for over a year and has outstanding reviews, you should only sign on month to month. I have been burned by this twice and learned my lesson (I think). If you get your refund and data then all is well, we as the readers see two sides of the story and its rather hard to see what is actually going on. I wish you the best and hope the refund goes well.

FYI - McAfee finally got back to me ...
XX.XXX.XX.XX is now Green in SiteAdvisor and it will be adjusted to Minimal Risk web reputation in Trusted Source.
NOW my weekend of work has cleared their IP - I should be paid for that work, yet they are closing my account. LOL - really good host people really good! - NOT!!!
If they keep my money I will sue them!
