ChicagoVPS - VPS not bootable, no support for 3 days (and counting)
I signed up for a $7 2GB VPS on chicagovps (they make this available occasionally), to test their service, and if good, to move one of my sites.
I don't expect top of the range performance from such an offer - they must have oversold by a lot.
What I do expect is decent customer support. My VPS went down on 12th, and has been offline so far. Hitting the boot button on control panel does nothing. Support tickets have gone unanswered.
To be clear, this is not a minor issue like help in installing or managing the server, but the VPS itself being down and not bootable for three days.
I shudder to think of my fate, had this type of support happened after I moved my site over. It earns decent money, and I'd have lost several hundered dollars in these 3-4 days.
Unless there is any improvement in their support, I won't renew my account, and I suggest anyone who values their site/business do the same.Last edited by sumeshpremraj; 02-15-2012 at 05:31 AM. Reason: Improved headline

Its really bad to hear that you have started to face the issue with a such well known provider. They must be facing some issues at the moment and they must be working on it keeping them busy.

Indeed, 3 days is really terrible for any VPS provider. They haven't even posted a single reply in the ticket I opened for the last 2 days.
I read good reviews about ChicagoVPS on so many sites and forums, but I guess everybody has their bad days. Hoping they solve this and stay that way, else I'm taking my site elsewhere.

There have been a lot of bad reviews lately for them I guess there the new burst.net this week. It’s a shame they have not responded to you hopefully they will at least come here so we can see the response.

Having severs with customer data on it without proper monitoring is like having one night stand without using protections - eventually, there will be an 'oh s**t!' moment.

If your site is making enough money that three days of downtime would have cost you several hundred dollars, why don't you invest a little more into who is hosting your site and go with a higher-end provider?

This was a test VPS so I could learn to setup everything and then buy a better one (CVPS itself offers 1GB Xen, that's what I would've set up the actual site on). But seeing the support levels, I don't think I'll have anything to do with them any time soon.

I think your experience is not normal. From what I understand ChicagoVPS offers a consistently positive support experience for their customers.
Though problems still do happen, and customers do get overlooked from time to time.
Consider emailing Chris (chris-at-chicagovps.net) and let him know what happened to you. I KNOW he will make it right.ColoCrossing - Dedicated to Uptime

I posted on LET and Chris replied, and he was blaming me for the time zone delays and slow responses (his words). That cannot be an excuse for slow customer support on a critical issue, and blaming me is adding insult to injury. I got the account closed and refunded.
