How much RAM for OpenVPN
Hello,
how much RAM would be sufficient to run ONLY a openvpn server accessed only by one person just to make HTTP requests (no p2p or intensive data) ?

You should be completely fine running OpenVPN for one user with 256MB of Ram or below. No need to spend extra money on a system with more ram than that because all the ram will not be utilized.

could 128mb be enough or even less??
I read of low end sites running a web server and db on that much ram that makes me thing I could get away with even 96mb.

If you will be the only one who is going to use it then ssh with option -D can be used instead. Then any amount of RAM will be ok (even 64 MB!)
Anyway, 128 MB will be more than enough for one-man openvpn.

It really depends on a number of factors but 128mb is fine I'd say to start. Depends on what you run on it.

OK so do you know of any hosts that offer very low end VPSes with 96/128MB RAM at a very low price?
I need 1GB space or even less (only OS and openvpn). 10mbps port is enough with a monthly BW of just 5/10GB.
It must be based in EU, Germany or France preferred.Last edited by -Sandro-; 02-13-2012 at 01:34 PM.

128MB is enough. I am using buyvm's $15/year plan and openvpn works fine.
