VPS (or maybe dedicated server) in the NE
anyone have current thoughts on performance/success (or lack thereof) with Boston area providers? looking at inetservices and colospace but open to others. doesn't have to be in Boston, i guess, but all else being equal would be nice to easily visit. i could see a hybrid cloud solution (dedicated servers where necessary)

I'm having a little bit of a hard time understanding what your asking. I understand that you are interested in a Boston area provider. However VPS, dedicated server, co-location and cloud solution were all mentioned. What exactly are you looking for?

sorry, definately not colocation. i want the provider to manage all. i'm investigating the merits of VPS and managed dedicated server. each of the two providers I mentioned offer both, and each is located near Boston (but that is not a requirement), so was curious about thoughts from current customers. I also noticed that inetservices offers a hybrid solution (mixing dedicated server with cloud).

Try the Find a Host option to see if anyone will be able to do this for you in Boston. There are definitely many providers in that area but may not be suitable for your exact needs, many cater towards colocation and cdn services.

I dont understand why you want a VPS provider that you can walk into their DC location. If you are not colocating why do you want to be able to visit, just curiosity?

I have experience with both providers from clients of ours and i would say hands down inetservices vs colospace.
