    Infinitie.net's hideous service.

    Hey Everyone,

Just got an Infinitie.net SSD VPS last week, and I was impressed until about three days ago. I use the VPS to run a very basic Minecraft server for me and a few friends. I got the SSD because it is IO intensive. It performed perfectly.

Recently, the network has been taking huge hits every once in a while. I'm not sure if it has to do with the node I'm on, but I can confirm that it affects me and other friends of mine who live out of state as well.

It usually only happens at night, but when it happens the VPS is next to useless

There's no other way to put it, the network has been terrible. It's gotten so bad to where I can't even hold an SSH session at times.

Here's a little sneak peak of what I've been dealing with.

    Tried doing the CacheFly test:

    root@minecraft2:~# wget hxxp://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test
    --2012-02-10 05:08:45-- hxxp://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test
    Resolving cachefly.cachefly.net... 205.234.175.175
    Connecting to cachefly.cachefly.net|205.234.175.175|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
    Length: 104857600 (100M) [application/octet-stream]
    Saving to: `100mb.test'

    0% [ ] 7,240 --.-K/s eta 13d 17h

    Never really finished.
(I had to replace the http's with hxxp because WHT won't let me post links until five posts.)

    Tried Google:

    root@minecraft2:~# ping google.com
    PING google.com (74.125.71.99) 56(84) bytes of data.

Sorry to see you have been having this much trouble in such a short time. Perhaps it is the node as I have a VPS with them (not SSD) for just over one month now and I have not had anything like the issues you have. Uptime has been great, I think there has been the odd very short lived glitch but compared to my last 2 hosts this has been great for me. I really hope whatever is wrong is fixed for you real soon.

Most likely due to DDoS attacks. Minecraft attracts these like flies, so if you're using it for minecraft, probably a lot of other people are as well, and your neighbors are getting attacks that are also impacting you. Not much can be done about that.

I can also confirm bad performance spikes using infinitie.net

seems random what time, how frequent and how long they last.

i have two virual servers on node sdc911 - strange thing about it is,
one can be fine the other slow as hell or both will just be slow as hell...

but yes, the lack of performance spikes makes the services unusable at times.
Both of my servers are used for http servers (apache, mysql in chroot) so nothing to demanding.

    cheers,
    Phil

Just an update on my situaltion regarding the same issues,

i opened a ticked about the problem, i got no reply after an hour (the website says 30 min support ticket responce) so iv just requested my money back for both products under the 30 day guarante as the virual services are usless with the issues above.

ill update this once i get a responce from them

    Hello,

Please can you cancel my services and refund me the full amount payed for invoices #### and #### under the money back garentee.

My reason for requesting my money back:
The Virtual Private Servers i have on node sdc911 are unusable due to constant spikes causing the network to become unresponsive. This makes the servers unusable for any sort of server related service. Your advertisments state:
    100% Network Uptime Promise
    30 minute suport ticket responce

The network is not up if its unusable due to performance on your side.
I opened a support ticket regarding the performance on this node over an hour ago marked as critical and no responce was given.

So please can you cancel my services and provide me with a full refund.

    thank you
    Phil

yeah, they're really slow replying ticket. if you want to test, ask them about upgrade, and they'll reply to your ticket as soon as
    - do it your self.

well i got the problems resolved.

give john b at infinitie.net credit he did resolve the issue.
basiclly iv been moved node, the node is perfect upto now.

if its one thing iv started to learn is bind my time

ill write a full review once the times right and iv fully tested it.

also they are trying to get archlinux to work for me, which lets face it they dont have to. so yea, sticky moment but looking up.

    cheers

It's funny sometimes how people run here to WHT and complain then request their money back. If people just waited a little longer for their tickets to be answered ( given its the weekend as well ) everything will get resolved.

Just my 2 cents don't mean to bash anyone.
