If your budget was higher, I'd suggest EuroVPS or EcoVPS. Easily one of the best hosts in Europe. But they're not a bottom-dollar type operation -- they're a premium host.

You may have to just start digging around the offers forum, and seeing how meets the budget. The search the forum for specific feedback on those companies. Maybe make a post asking for help to narrow down your short list, when the time comes.

It's been a little absurd seeing VPS prices drop so much that EuroVPS is seen as not a good deal (it completely is!) but at a premium

Your budget is very low IMHO.

    +1

When I started with them 6 years ago, the prices were very low/competitive compared to other hosts of the era (most of whom were just gouging customers). The growth of the budget/kiddie/reseller/LEB market in the past 2-3 years is creating the false $1-5 pricing models. A high quality VPS is easily worth $25-75/monthly. The prices at most premium hosts have fallen, too, in addition to increases in resources.

Some people just don't see this. They just zero in on the lowest price.

~60 cents higher (€3.49) but misterhost.de are proving to be very good, got a couple there. OpenVZ with VSwap which seems to be behaving nicely.

This is a 128MB… I've got one of the 512MB too; good support so far.
I'm using the 128 for a permanent vpn from the UK and the connection has been rock solid/no lag.

    Code:
    dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync

You've only been with that host for one week.

And you said the I/O speeds were horrible.
Why recommend a host you really don't yet know, for which you have complaints?
    I don't understand that.
