I have been with GigaTux for a little over a month now and I would like to review the quality of the service and the package that I have chosen.
I chose the Uno L VPS package. This service comes with 128MB of RAM, 5GB of storage and 50GB of bandwidth per month. I chose this package to be able to maintain control of a private source code repository for a future project, which will also make use of the VPS.
Setting up the service was very straight forward. My account was set up ready for use on the next working day after I ordered it. GigaTux hosting is Linux-based and uses Xen to host virtual servers. To set up the service for the first time, GigaTux provides a web-based tool which allows the user to install a Linux distribution of your choice (in my case, Ubuntu server). After a few minutes, the VPS can be accessed via SSH in order to add user accounts and a personal SSH login.
I am very impressed with the service. To the best of my knowledge, the service has not had any downtime over the last month (since I have always been able to access my source code) and access has always been very timely.
Customer service has also been useful in helping me set up the account right at the very beginning. I would recommend GigaTux to anyone searching for a Linux-based VPS and recommend the Uno L package to anyone who needs the use of a private server for a small to medium-sized project.
In summary, excellent hosting with no problems at all.
