Xeon X5675 4c vs X5675 6c

Intel Xeon X5672 3.20GHz, 12M Cache, 6.40 GT/s QPI, 4C
Intel Xeon X5675 3.06GHz, 12M Cache, 6.40 GT/s QPI, Turbo, HT, 6C

I'm trying to decide on a CPU for web servers. Do I go with the slightly higher GHz on the 4 core or just more cores? All these servers are doing is IIS in a clustered config.

I've also been looking at this which may be the best bang for the buck. Slower, but still 6 cores and 12 threads. The X5600 series may be overkill for web servers.

Intel Xeon E5649 2.53GHz, 12M Cache, 5.86 GT/s QPI, 6C

If anyone has any bench marks that would be great, or just your own experience. Thanks!

from my experience, i would chose the 6 cores for a web server.
if you would do just compiling on a single core, then i would get the more GHz...

Thanks, compiling is a good point although these are going to be running the usual gambit of compiling .NET + normal scripting like PHP and classic ASP. I just wonder if the X series is overkill?
