P/T Linux Admin and PHP programmer needed

I am seeking a very part time (10 to 12 hours per month on the SysAdmin side, varying amounts of time on the programming side) Linux systems administrator and PHP programmer to maintain 3 leased linux servers and do some basic programming projects for my small ISP.

The pay isn't very much, and there isn't much glory in it, either, but it'll be good experience and you'll probably get to have some hands-on experience with some software you've never worked with before.

On the SysAdmin side, you need to be willing to learn about radius and radius software (we currently use Cistron, but this is open to change if there's a good reason for it), e-mail server software (currently Postfix), and basic linux administration. Of the 3 servers, only one has a server control panel (Ensim) - the other two are just raw linux installations and will be staying that way, so you need to know how to work from the command line.

On the programming side, we have a back-end administrative system that at the moment is "in working condition" but is far from "complete" that always needs work. We also have a programming project to integrate SpamAssassin into our mail server system (probably not strictly a PHP project, but what we need is more than just installing SpamAssassin, there will be some programming required there), and we're very soon going to need to upgrade our billing software.

Our current SysAdmin, who is leaving in two weeks, is willing to work with the new candidate to get you familiar with everything.

If you're interested in this position, please e-mail me at jason@allstarisp.com with your qualifications and salary requirements (keep those salary requirements low - as I said, there's not much money in this position).

Thanks,

Jason

Jason,

Are you looking at a single person to fill up the position or would you be happy with sharing between two? I have extensive experience on the ISP/System Administration side but not a lot on PHP.

I would be happy to provide some references of ISPs for whom I have installed RADIUS systems and maintain it.

I currently have one person doing both, and while my initial gut reaction is to replace him with just one person, I certainly am open to two people.

Send me your info via e-mail, and I'll certainly consider it. That goes for anyone who can fill only one of the positions - if it makes more sense to hire two people then I'll probably end up doing that.

Thanks,

Jason

Just to let everyone know, Jason is a fair guy. And, the programming part of things, isn't too complex, the code is understandable. It also has comments in various areas identifying what each part does.
