Question:

How do you 'sell' Facebook fans? Are these legitimate people? In which case, how much are you paying them to "like" a random page they have absolutely no interest in?

This violates Facebook's TOS.

"A third party site, USocial, was involved in a controversy surrounding the sale of fans and friends. USocial received a cease-and-desist letter from Facebook and has stopped selling friends."

If you are announcing to your social network to like this page and your fans are not being paid, you're ok.

So you believe that the OP is announcing to his social network to all go and like a certain page, and within 48 hours, 10,000 real people will do so for free, without any incentive?

You've got to be kidding...

No, frankly, I'm not bored. I just don't like to see people being taken advantage of if it can be prevented, especially in shady ads on WHT.

From facebook terms:

If you collect information from users, you will: obtain their consent, make it clear you (and not Facebook) are the one collecting their information, and post a privacy policy explaining what information you collect and how you will use it.
