Looking for high ram servers.
I have been trying to find servers that have a large amount of ram (can be bundled or as a customizable extra) mainly for hyper-v virtualization.
Location:
United States, Northeast perfered
Main Requirement :
About 16-32gb ram
Secondary +:
Newer dual core or low end quad core
Multi-homed provider
/29 - /28 of IPs
Nice to haves:
IPv6 support or deployment plan in the works
The main thing I have been finding is most providers charge through the roof for ram upgrades to servers, I know that ECC ram can be expensive but some were charging $25 per gb a month extra, which seems rather high. I was looking at http://www.swiftway.net/
but don't know that much about them. I also wouldn't mind paying a one time setup fee, if there after there was either no or a low monthly payment.

Take a look at reliablesite.net, the company seems to meet every one of your requirements including the nice to have. Great company to work with too.

Its kind of sad too since you can get a pack of 24gb ECC Ram for about $220 purchased. Ever think about building your own and colocating? If your in this for the long haul it would be worth it to you.

If you need value for money, I can definitely vouch for Swiftway. Been using them for quite sometime and they are very good but you have to do everything yourself unless you are ready to pay for higher SLA.
Whats your budget for this?

I looking for something about $300 a month. I have looked into the colo route but I want to end up over-specing the server if I do that. I will probably go colo if I can't seem to find a decent deal. Its more of just putting the money together to actually buy (or build) a server out right.
I am looking for something reliable but don't really need an SLA, its nothing mission critical at the moment.
I am currently in the investigation phase, compare costs etc seeing what would work best.

Hello,
- You can easily find a provider who can offer such servers for this price.
- What would be the server used for?

They are not located in the Northeast, but SecuredServers has a 48gb server for $298. They are located in Phoenix.

It really depends all what you want to do, where you want to be, your budget, and if you need managed or not, if you need managed, Securedservers is NOT what you need, find a reseller If that's what you need tack on about $100 if that's what you need, and it's much more ram then requested.

While hard drive prices have increased, RAM prices are actually pretty cheap now. I'd check out the offers section and contact companies to see what options are available to you. Good luck in your search!

What you are looking for is pretty common and should not be hard to find.
Do you need management? Any control panel? Any special requirement?

Perhaps rather than have one massive server, spread the load access a couple of servers?
