Hello, I am new to WHT and I would like to start off with a review for 1and1 hosting.
In the six months that I have been with 1and1, I bought four server packages.
When I emailed them, withen an hour after the email was sent, they repsonded with great support.
Like every other hosting company, not every one of their support members have the answer for everything but they stayed on the line until my problem was solved.
Around 4 months ago, 1and1 went down due to network outages, it took them around 25 hours to fix the outage, once the outage was fixed they compensated me with three free extra days. I considered this a gift as most companies dispatch "We're sorry for the inconvienence" messages and most would accept it and go on about their business.
Recently, 1and1 upgraded their servers.
I wasnt too happy seeing the new servers my server at the time was their 1&1 Dedicated Server DC XL package.
I was paying $100 a month for this package, the new package is $100 too the key differences were.

I was 8 days away from paying when they released these servers.
I felt a little betrayed by the new upgrade in servers, so I called them, the salesman told me "everyone is upgrading to the new servers" he told me he will wave my current month and upgrade my server free of charge. This sounded too good to be true to me, took them a day to set this deal up. I recieved an email telling me my charges were waved for the current month and my server will be upgraded in 1 hour. This act of kindness from a big server company is more than ill ask for.
If I had to rate 1and1 id give it a 5 out of 5 due to my great experiences. So far i've never had any hidden fee's or random charges so I would recommend them to first time dedicated server owners.
I will however say it takes time to get used to their control panel, everything else is great.
