Email cuts out... MailScanner?

We have a RAQ4i and our email seems to cut out when checking every now and then. It will cut out for around 5 minutes and then come back. This is the message I receive: (Replaced our domain with domain.com)

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'admin@domain.com', Server: 'domain.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F"

I believe this started happening after we installed MailScanner, I'm not to sure. Could it be server load issue? If so does anyone have an suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks.

Is it cutting out when receiving mail, or while sending? The message you included would seem to indicate it was while receiving mail via POP3, so I'm not sure why that would be mail scanner related. The mailscanner should either be running with Sendmail while mail is being accepted to the box, or run with procmail while mail is being distributed to the local mailboxes, but once you get around to using qpopper for pulling mail from the local mailbox to the client, I don't believe the mailscanner should be in the connection path.

You are right, it is only when receiving email so by that time mailscanner has already done it's job. Could it be server load then?

I don't think qpopper has an 'auto-disconnect' like sendmail does for high server loads.

What MUA are you using? Outlook, Eudora, ...?

Do you have this problem only with a certain account, or all accounts?

Is there a firewall between your MUA and the RaQ?

We receive the error on Outlook Express. I'm not sure if anyone else receives that error using other programs or not. Next time it happens I will check using Outlook or Eudora.

We have about 50 clients hosted on this server, with probably 300 active users. We've received complaints from maybe 5 individuals, and I've seen the result here. So I don't think it's a firewall issue. On our network here there isn't any firewall setup.
