WARNING: DO NOT HOST WITH BOUNCEWEB!
Did I learn the hardway, a company impossible to work with! Support does get back to you, but they disable the cpanel backup because "IT UTILIZES TOO MUCH RESOURCES" - ONE OF THE DUMBEST EXCUSES I'VE SEEN in my 20 year career...
Their site crashed, they were not able to restore it within 24 hours. The backup was from 3-4 months ago! Performance is sluggish! DON'T BELIEVE THEIR SLA - A FAKE ONE MAN PERSON COMPANY!
It's a one man hosting company - one person (CEO, FINANCE, SUPPORT, ADMIN) - NOT LEGIT! Don't even think about calling finance, you'll only get voicemails!
WARNING! DON'T EVER HOST YOUR SITE THERE! REMEMBER THIS WARNING AND SPREAD THE WORD!

What you mean 'Performance is sluggish!'? ... Server?
If so why didn't you do something earlier?

How, when the CPANEL backups are disabled. This is the first host that I've known that disables cpanel backups... Been with many other hosting companies and every single one of them allows cpanel backups.
WORST HOSTING COMPANY OUT THERE!
I KNOW HOST WITH KNOWNHOST - GLAD I MADE THE MOVE!

If you knew no backups you could have downloaded yourself and or kept your own local backups!
Don't sound right to me
We're always wiser after the event. Move on with that knowledge

What happens if you ask them for the latest backup of your account? will they bring it up to you?

I think you guys are missing the point here. I have the files and the DB would be offsync, that'll cause further issues to our application.
Now that being said, wouldn't it be nice if we had the CPANEL backup feature? Yes or no? That's disabled - I suppose both of your company disable CPANEL backups as well? If so, I would feel sorry for your users and wouldn't host there.
I know there are MySQL backups as well, but "ALL" backup features are disabled. Totally BS! Want a backup, gotta pay for it, complete ********!
SLA's are not met, restorations from 4-5 months ago with hundreds of lost users. Sorry, fed up, need out!

I'm a customer not a provider and even I know after 10 years (and you have 20 years) to make sure backups are enabled and or present and or kept

EncoderZ - After signing up with a provider and paying for a full years of hosting, the time and trouble of transferring over. Sorry, I would like to give them a chance.
Just sharing my experience. Not here to debate with you! But letting the community know, there are better hosts out there - stay away from BOUNCEWEB...

This is why you should always start with monthly billing. That way, if things go sour, you're only out the current month. Most hosts allow you to switch billing terms at any time, so you can start with the safety of monthly billing and then enjoy the savings of annual billing once you're satisfied.
I know nothing about Bounceweb, but this is just common sense. Never lock yourself down to a year or more with a provider you haven't experienced.

There are some things I do not understand in this storry.
*What domain do you / did you host with them?
*Why did you choose overseller (unlimited disk space and unlimite bandwith - possible only if you pay unlimited money for unlimited time).
*they do advertise Daily Backups - did you remind them of this feature?
*They do state in their TOS:
Quote:
|
Any Web site that uses a high amount of server resources (such as, but not limited to, CPU time, memory usage, and network resources) will be given the option to reduce the resources used to an acceptable level. Bounceweb will be the sole arbiter of what is considered to be a high server usage level. Any Web Hosting account deemed to be adversely affecting server performance or network integrity will be shut down without prior notice.
|
Did you read that? They are the only judges if your site uses too much resources.
*They also state in their TOS:
Quote:
|
Except where Bounceweb has expressly agreed in writing to the contrary, customers are solely and entirely responsible, and Bounceweb is in NO way responsible, for the management and backup of all customer data, and all updates, upgrades, and patches to any software that customers use in connection with Bounceweb services. Bounceweb servers are also NOT be used as a backup storage and is only intented for hosting web files. If you require a copy of a backup, we can provide it for $5 per GB or $10 for the backup, whichever is greater. You also have the option of downloading it via FTP. If you require a backup due to violation of these terms of services there will be a $50 administration fee on top of the regular backup fee. Illegal activities that cause your site to be suspended will reserve the right of suspension.
|
Unclear what about "daily backups" advertising, but still - according to TOS – it may be solely up to you.
I would like to hear a bit more of this story..as well as host's opinion.
