To my knowledge, no *hardware* RAID cards support TRIM yet.

If this is Linux, I'd skip the RAID card and go with software RAID since you're using SSDs -- its a little pointless, especially with a low end card. Also, an E3 Xeon might make more sense if you don't need a 2nd CPU.

I couldn't edit the post it's 2x E5620's, also why software RAID, isn't firmware RAID a better option?

Software RAID is great. Offloading to a hardware card with a battery backup is always a good idea, but realistically, if your power is very reliable then SW raid will do. For RAID0/1/10, overhead is very tiny on the CPU.

When you start looking at Raid5 you really need battery backed write cache. Really going to depend on the application IO profile, are you doing a lot of reads, write, sequential, random etc etc

You definitely don't need 980W PSU here. 520W will be more than enough plus I am not sure how were you going to install this redundant psu in the system without power management. PWS-981-1s will not work for sure. Also you might want to look for a high efficient PSU. Check out this page for it- http://www.supermicro.com/products/chassis/1U/?chs=811

I am a bit unsure about 2.5" to 3.5" converters for 811 chassis. It goes with a different hot swap bays comparing to other cases. I'll need to look into it to be sure which p/n will fit in it.

You will also need IPASS to SATA cable for your controller to connect drives. CBL-0116L (50cm) will work for your needs.

Also you missed the riser card which is required to install the raid controller in 1U chassis. P/N RSC-RR1U-E8 will fit your system.

You mentioned 1 CPU and 4 RAM modules. It's not going to work. You have only 3 memory slots per CPU on this system. So think about 3x8Gb ram or 2cpus with 6x8gb.

And the last but not least - chassis goes with rails included. You don't need to get them separately.
