Kernel Upgrade: Athlon? rpm's or source from kernel.org ?

I'm about to upgrade the kernel of the RH 7.2 Machine, which runs on an Athlon XP 2100+

I got a bit stuck here.
Here's the one i'd do the upgrade with via RPM:
https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2003-025.html
But i don't know if the provided "Athlon" packages are just for normal Athlons or also "Athlon XP" ...
So if i should take the special athlon-kernel.rpm or the normal kernel.rpm

And second question:
What would you do? Go via RPM or download the latest 2.4 kernel from kernel.org?

Thanks for your help and opinions!

I prefer to compile my own kernels and modules. but of course thats just preference.

Might read up on the new bugs each successive kernel fixes and introduces You might end up stepping in a pile of poop. Of course thats linux traditionally.

Well, what i also wanted to do, is integrate netfilter/iptables ... which the kernel is currently not setup for ... can't you compile the kernel with these .rpm's to include netfilter/iptables?

thanks!
