Let's not leave VMWare out of the party .
I would rank them:
1. VMWare
2. Xen
3. KVM
It's all about the type of virtualization, how well the hardware instruction set is virtualized and how much flexibility the platform gives you. I left OpenVZ off this list intentionally because it would be ranked somewhere around number 39...

39 is a conservative number isn't it? I would rank it somewhere in the 60-70s range.

You should've left OpenVZ off the list because it doesn't do hardware virtualization, so it's an apples and pineapples comparison.
In some situations OpenVZ may be a better choice than a fully hardware-virtualized solution like KVM or Xen HVM.

Of course, but nowhere did anyone specify hardware only. They merely listed only hardware-level virtualization options in the thread. I agree that Kernel-V isn't the same but folks compare it anyway....
Best,
Dave

I guess I inferred it from the thread title and the OP.

Is better in what way?
Anyways, kvm should perform better for most tasks... Could you clarify your question?
