Am I dreaming about these prices?

Hello there,

I currently host a Minecraft server that I would like to have hosted on a dedicated server.

Currently, I have a VPS which has done the job, but I'm starting to use 99% of both RAM and CPU.

What would be the cheapest price for:
2-4GB RAM
1-2 CPU cores.
Fast connection.
Full SSH and FTP access.
Be able to link to using A-RECORD.

Any insight would be great.

Thanks for your time,
- Nunnsy

Well to start as long as you have an IP address and are hosting your DNS somewhere you can point an A record anywhere you please. Most dedicated servers give you SSH, however you would need to install FTP your self. I would say you should be able to find something like this for just under 100/month from a good provider.

Best of luck!

A VPS is no different than a Dedicated Server -- I say that because you are essentially splitting up a dedicated server to create other "smaller" dedicated servers which share cpu, ram, and hd space...

If you can create it within a VPS, you can create it within a Dedicated Server..

Well, a VPS usually has more redundancy at the same price point.

I've looked around, but VPS don't offer the high amount of RAM I need for a good price, they mainly focus on cores.

What is your budget? That would help.

Try cleverkite. The stratus plan and up seem to fit your needs. I think if you get a dedicated server for $100 the hardware won't be that great.

I'm currently paying $30, I really wouldn't want to go higher than $40 per month.

Maybe the highest plan on BuyVM? I don't think you can get much with that budget

Can't get any serious dedis with $40/mo...
Look for a bigger/better (unmanaged) vps. Only option with that budget.
