Question

MySql on Raq4

Hy,

My website is currently hosted on a Cobalt Raq4 server, and now I want to use MySql and PHP on my site.

I contacted the Raq4 administrator, and he told me he enabled PHP for my virtual domain, but he doesnt know anything of MySql.

When I was reading other articles on this forum, I saw it must be possible te use MySql on a Raq4.

The Raq4 Administrator finally said that if I could give the EXACT installation instructions and EXACT download site of the install file, he would install it.

I really hope someone van help me out,

Greetings,

Lode

ps: Does anyone knows a better program than phpMyAdmin for MySql databases?

Lode, you can check by typing either "mysql" which should connect you to the mysql database, or "locate mysql" which should search the harddrive for mysql files.

Hi,

If i do the command "mysql" he doesn't report anything.

By doing this command, he reports the following:

[lode lode]$ locate mysql
/home/chiliasp/odbc/direct/locale/en_US/LC_MESSAGES/ivmysql15.po

Is this enough to conclude that MySql is installed?

Lode

Sorry to say....

That does not mean you have MySQL...

If he knows how to install pkg's on a raq he/she could go to the url chicken pointed out, and find the url to install the pkg. I do caution, if he really doesn't know anything about MySQL and just install the pkg and that is it he is leaving himself open to security risks. Pkg's are easy to install the mysql pkg is no different but there is some setup involved after the installation of the mysql pkg. As I said if he doesn't he could be leaving himself open, as well as you...
