Hello,

So I use wget to download from website with direct links. I have access to Ferrari media site and I am struggling to download a video.

Please can you tell me how can i download a video to my VPS?

Video :
Code:
http://media.ferrari.com/attachment/broadcast/142821/file.mpeg

I do not believe you can download it directly to the server, since it requires you to login first and accept the agreement. You will first need to download it to your local machine and then upload it to the server.

lynx is a text based web browser, so you could try browsing to that page like:

lynx http://media.ferrari.com/attachment/...2821/file.mpeg

I don't think it's very likely this will work, but perhaps it's worth trying.

Lynx is a text based browser that works with web forms and handles cookies, so in theory it could work, assuming the site is not requiring javascript or doing some other funky things.

Red_wolf6, you just gotta learn some of the basics of navigating the web with lynx

[me@vps] lynx URL

...will take you somewhere. Pay attention to the menu at bottom, play around, read the help and have fun

OMG it worked

but it took me like 10 minutes to find the video but at least it worked.

Any idea how can i enter the URL manually into lynx?

I tried to do like medialayer told me. then asked me for disclaimer, logged in. Can i enter a URL next time while I am in lynx?

* Can i upload videos to vimeo directly from my server using lynx?

It's unlikely you can upload directly to vimeo using lynx.

However based on your needs maybe you should look into getting a small VPS with remote desktop on a 100mbps (or faster) connection. Then you could use a real web browser and upload/download very quickly from the server.

If I recall, while in lynx press 'g' and a space opens at bottom for you to type in a URL.

Well again, lynx does support file uploads, though whether it'll work with that particular site is a question.

And just because lynx works differently than GUI browsers doesn't make it any less "real"

Well, fair enough - lynx is still a web browser indeed. However due to the complexity of today's websites, it's not really possible to do a lot of things in it - for example it does not have a javascript implementation as far as I'm aware. I am pretty sure javascript would be necessary on a lot of file upload sites.
