Hi, I've been checking out McHost's dedicated offer on their homepage however for about the last month they have had this message on their site:
Our full range of dedicated servers will be available on January 10th, 2003.
Just curious,

They are available, however the first machines were only available to current clients, to give them an option to upgrade, before releasing them to everyone

Why would anyone want to purchase a dedicated server from a company that hasn't even taken the time to create a simple pages describing what is offered? Not only that, the page that IS there has a date from weeks ago!

Read my reply. We offered it to current clients only first, because it would be wrong to advertise something that we did not yet offer to everyone. I hope that clears it up a little.

We do actually have boxes in the DV2 data center, however they are managed and include more bandwidth than the regular DV2 offers. We also offer servers at our new Phoenix, AZ facility. If you wish to discuss this further, please email me - as i do not wish to break the forum rules

And what exactly do you mean by "managed"?
What is it that you include that DV2 doesn't?

Managed means they handle all of the technical type stuff.
Has the date been changed yet Kiwi, you could lose customers like that

JWise, I know exactly what 'managed' means.
I've seen a couple of hosts claiming to offer managed servers without telling what they mean by 'managed'.
That word is sometimes used as a way to bump up the prices of the servers they resell by two or even three-fold.
If Kiwi is serious about what he's saying he will reply. If he wants to evade it because he can't explain it, that's fine by me too.

- Operating system patches
- Kernel upgrades
- Apache, PHP, Python, FTP, EXIM, Bind, etc. upgrades/recompiles.
- Troubleshooting of the above software, as well as all initial software installed.
- WHM/CPanel troubleshooting.
- Security check and updates
- Firewall management.
- 24/7 monitoring.
- Installation of third-party software at no additional charge.
I hope that answers your question The above is also included in our SLA.
