Ajenti - the new control panel - out of beta

Hello WHT!

I'm not sure whether this post should go here or into Advertisement, so please advise.

For the last 2 years I've been developing Ajenti control panel.
It's a free (both as beer and as in freedom) and open-source VPS/dedicated panel which I tried to make clean, usable and good-looking - and I hope I did succeed.
We've moved out of beta a couple of days ago, and would greatly appreciate feedback from professional admins.

You can try out demo at

demo.ajenti.org:8000

Login: admin
Password: ajentidemo

While being fully-functional (you can issue 'poweroff' in commandline), please be respectful to other users since server will revert itself to a snapshot no faster than hourly and you could cut other users from accessing the demo.

So far we support Debian-based systems, CentOS, Gentoo, Arch and FreeBSD.

Downloads and more information at ajenti.org
Developer docs are at wiki.ajenti.org

Best regards,
Eugeny

This actually looks kind of cool. I am planning on buying a Dedicated Server or a VPS once I make enough money and cPanel is EXPENSIVE. Does this support the selling of Reseller Hosting aswell?

No, it's only intended for personal server administration.

Hm, I quite like that actually.

I'll get this onto a VPS and have a really good fiddle.

Actually.

Installation is a nightmare. Perhaps you could clean it up a little or create a proper installation script instead of the yum repo.

All these python and lxml dependencies are driving me insane.

HR-Martin, I've rebuild package against python=2.6. You should have all deps for CentOS 6 in ajenti repo, and for CentOS 5 you'll need to grab python2.6 and python-lxml from EPEL/RPMForge/etc.

I was never prompted to login, I'm running as an anonymous user and have full control of the panel

(How many times can I reboot this server? )

Very nice interface.
You may want to put a note on your site that it's easiest to install on CentOS 6.

I look forward to seeing it evolve, it's off to a great start.

I think it is fantastic and is a real step forward and will suit new users and more advanced users who just like convenience great!

I like it so much I plan to work on creating some xen pv templates with it pre installed, perhaps you can then make them available to other hosts as a download or something.

Nice work, thanks for making the effort.

Maybe you should limit your Demo admin site a littlebit?
But it's really cool this! Maybe you should create a free version there people can host max. 10 account and a paid where they can host unlimited accounts So they can resell.
