On a side note this has been tested in IE latest, Mozilla latest, Opera latest, NS latest, and NS 4.x. All are good to go.

Corey, you are right about that.
    Therefore, you shouldn't apologize.

I've already set up a test platform to upgrade on as soon as all the new designs are implemented, I have already run the upgrade and really dont see many differences user-wise.

Patrick: Many of the differences between 2.2.5 and 2.2.9 are security fixes

Yup.. About 20 security fixes and some database changes.. But they are very important if you want to keep the forum secure...

Might I suggest you install the spellchecker also???? Just needs pspell, and I'm sure Corey could pretty up the popup interface...

    BTW: Corey, sounds great

I've leaned away from using anything marked as BETA ( The PHP Spell Checker you've mentioned ) in a production environment, as the developer of it doesnt seem to be interested in fixing problems with it that were mentioned in their support thread. Once the new design is in I will likely experiment with it at the same time I do the upgrade on the test platform and if I find WHT doesnt have any problems with it, I can bring it into production as well at the same time.

I think a change of colors might also be a nice idea.

    Just my opinion.

Yah i think we all cant wait maybe some more modern smilies eh?

Also i'll restate my question about coresy upcoming nexus skin and its multiple colors. Any chance you could do the same? From the looks of the example, it shouldnt be too hard eh?

I agree with you. One of the reasons I came to WHT was to see what was new. A great way to see what is new is to see the advertisements that were running. A HTML ad with text is alot more informative then a banner. Oh well...

I have the spellchecker installed as an independent script on my server and it works just fine. The few problems in that thread are in reply to the new version. If you like, I can clean up my code on my version, and give it to you so you can install it on not only the vB but the hosting review sections as well..

It's not 2secs, current design is like 7secs, new will be even slower

Most likely not, if you take a closer look, very little has changed in terms of size. There will be some more text, but it wont' add more than a few seconds. The image filesizes will be about the same, and once they are cached, you won't need to keep loading them. Everything else looks to be plain old html (text). Corey should be able to confirm this...

akash is correct. While there is a few more images, the totale file size has only grown by like 2k from its current incarnation. As I said before, the current header also has 7 buttons in the header. The new one uses text links. Its this kind of give and take that made the new design more modern, but did not make it last longer to load.

But don't take my word for it, when its up check it out for yourself.

    Headsurfer,

The ability to purchase advertising and the free resource directory will be available on Monday correct?

Thanks for your info and the new site looks great and I am eager to see the additions in full swing!
