Can anybody tell me the differece between them?

1. I will throw you a vps.

if this is a trick question or you looking for a smart answer.....

then you can't actually throw or give a vps as they aren't physical items they are slices of a real server... thereforce you can't throw it and you can't give (in someone's hands) one either

and while they both mean completely different things in their normal context

give

Freely transfer the possession of (something) to (someone); hand over to: "they gave her water".

throw

Propel (something) with force through the air by a movement of the arm and hand.

used in the context of deals or packages they can be used to mean the same thing

for example...

with that i will give you ......

i will throw that in for you as well.....

I mean "I will throw you a vps " .Does This sentence contain a sense of irony?

+1 Joe's Answer

& It's like saying -
// I will give you a year to pay me.
// Give me a second.

You can't physically hand out a measure of time.

Another one that causes me trouble is 'take my hand'...
When I started taking hands the police just were NOT happy.

Someone actually said that they will "Throw you a VPS?"

If they actually did say that, they are either not typing the correct thing or they are just being rude.

It sounds like adolescent slang to me.
I remember kids using the word "tight" to describe anything they liked about 10-15 years ago.
To me, "tight" is when something doesn't fit right.
And in this case, "throw" is what I do to trash or with baseballs.

Language evolves, and not always for the better.

Or fits perfectly.

Might be. But that depends on when or in what context it was used. Is this a response you got from any host's sales/customer support ?
