What is the fastest cpanel host? I am currently on Stablehost and would like to move if there is something faster. My main speed concern is MySQL. I need a host that has less limits on connections.

You're finding things slow in what ways? It's important to be precise as to how you wish things were faster, otherwise you are in danger of finding a host that is faster in that one regard but you lose all the other things you enjoyed about SH. Net result: You're much worse off.

How many queries are you doing and what type of site? That could help a little bit. Honestly I'd just suggest to contact a host and ask if they can optimize your db or what their mysql settings are.

Are you talking about server speed?
Not sure your location but HERE'S a speedtest from a busy IPB forum (500MB database) which is with Hawkhost in Dallas.

You can always gather a list of hosts that seem like they might peak your interest, and see who would be willing to offer you a short trial account to test out speeds. It's really all subjective to who considers what kind of speeds fast, unless you're running actual technical benchmarks with applications.
But like previous posters mentioned, if you are having speed problems, there may be better ways to improve your database indexes, cache objects within your website (if you're using WordPress there are several options), or if your host is just overcrowding servers and its slowing you down then you probably definitely want to look somewhere else, or bring it to their attention.

Possible get a VPS or a dedi... if it's a good one, the speed of your sites is likely to increase.
Optimal configuration would be Nginx or Cherokee web server (AFAIK, doesn't work with cpanel... use Apache or LiteSpeed if you really need cPanel), Percona MySQL, and PHP-FPM or FastCGI. Also, make sure the disks your server has are fast... I know that CleverKite runs on Raid 10 SSDs, if you want to take a look at them.

Hello DakNet,
Sounds like your host got right back to you and is willing to assist in any speed issues you might have. Give them a chance first - maybe they have a faster machine to move you to or some other idea.
Generally...what you are asking is very broad. Depends on where your client base is and the server itself. User connection speeds. Weight of your pages. How ell or not well your sql queries are written. How ell your database is designed. And so on.

less limits on connections.

This is often caused by poor PHP coding, such as plugins for blogs and forums. Many of the so-called "SEO" plugins or chatbox plugins are horrible at abusing resources for no good reason.
You may need a VPS with lots of RAM, if you're unwilling or unable to assess the root cause of your problems.
Stablehost is actually on a pretty speedy network, and on high quality hardware.
EuroVPS, JaguarPC, LiquidWeb and WiredTree are some good VPS hosts.

I think the first item you need to analyze is your actual website. What type of traffic is your site currently getting? Meaning, how much bandwidth, diskspace is your site currently using? Second, what type of website is this? Wordpress, forum..ect?
Personally I think once you get to a certain level (assuming you are not hosting with someone who is overcrowding/overselling their servers). The speed of your website is not going to improve all that much when moving from shared host, to shared host. What you will need to look at (assuming your site can still be hosted on a shared platform) is the optimization of your website.

Although with hosting usually just means there are going to be more accounts. Never really equates to faster speeds.
