Stay away from ARVIXE!!

I have been with Arvixe for 3 months now and it's got to be one of the most unreliable hosts I have been with, along with the worst customer support! (Support team is based in Mumbai, India)

My site is down constantly and each time I speak to one of their customer support team members, it's always the same story, the same false promises, the same lies!

They always promise my site wont be down again but day after day my site is down and lagging. I am TRYING to run an online store and I have many complaints from my customers unable to access the site or worse yet, in the middle of buying items and then the site goes down. I have lost hundreds of dollars of sales and many customers!

If you do sign up with Arvixe and ask for a refund, goodluck in getting one! I have asked 4 times already and each time their customer support will just ignore you and will never answer back. Once they have charged your credit card, they don't want to know about you!

Here are the stats from pingdom.com on my sites downtime, and response times from the past 48hours.

Number of down times: 27 (in past 48hrs)
Total Downtime: 1hour and 46 minutes (in past 48hrs)
Avg. Response Time
11.95 seconds
Slowest avg. response time
47.56 seconds

This is far worse than most free hosting and blogging sites and for paid hosting it's really an absolute joke!

In short, if you want a reliable host stay well away from ARVIXE! They are terrible!

Did they provide an explanation to the downtime?

They reluctantly gave out explanations, though from the ones I got, they would say either 'people abusing the server' or 'technical problems with the server'. Its just never ending, day after day.

That doesn't seem good, I would recommend you to maintain your own backups. I hope you get a refund as well.

Thanks for the support. I'm doing another backup right now. I don't think I will be getting a refund though, I have asked for one 4 times already and they just don't reply. Smart customer service skills right! Better for them to just not answer their paying customers!

Ouch, does not sound overly enticing by any means. The amount of downtime incurred in one day is quite high indeed, though were these actual confirmed to be down at the time of it being down or are they just relays from the monitoring tool?

Yeah far less enticing than the arvixe website, with their smiling customers jumping for joy & testimonials claiming best customer service in the world. Heck they have to get your credit card number somehow right!
These are all confirmed downtimes, by pingdom, myself and arvixe themselves.

That is some downtime you are having. It seems like you are better off start looking for another host that will be more reliable to you.

That is quite a bit of downtime without an adequate excuse. OP, if they do not provide you a refund, just cut your losses and move on.

Hello,

I'm sorry for your experience. I am sure that based on other feedback on here, you will find that your experience is not common at Arvixe.

Also note that we are not based out of Mumbai India. We do have staff all over the world and over 50% of our staff do reside in the US.

Also, do you have any tickets open with us in regards to these issues? Please PM them to me. Did you email our QA department in regards to these issues? (it is qa .at. arvixe.com).

Lastly, what server are you on? We operate over 250 shared servers. Shared hosting does rely on the specific customers you are sharing the server with and therefore, at times, the experience may not at its optimum as we identify abusive customers and move them from the problematic server. Which is why the guaranteed uptime is across a month period and not 48 hours.

Lastly, is that a free pingdom test? Please note that for any test (especially over a 48 hour period) to be legitimate, it should be done on a minute by minute basis. Free uptime monitors often do testings every 30 minutes to 1 hour. Therefore, even a 4 minute hiccup can count as a 30+ minute downtime. Also, the response times you are outlining would outline this server as 100% down in our monitoring system (which has not been the case ever with any server). Response times do really rely on the content of the site and I can certainly look into your site and see if that is the case.

No i dont have a ticket, I have gone straight into the live support each time my site is down. The server i'm on is Seastar and the my monitoring tool is not a free account, it tests minute by minute from locations all over the world.

I hate to say it, but one of the many pitfalls of going with a provider that claims to offer unlimited diskspace/bandwidth is you greatly increase the chances of landing on a server that is A.) constantly being abused by users looking to take advantage of the unlimited claims or B.) the server is simply mismanaged (due to overcrowding).

Although its possible to experience these same types of issues with web hosts that offer more realistic web hosting packages. I believe you will have a better chance of getting a more stable web hosting service by going with a provider that is offering realistic web hosting packages. Just something to keep in mind when shopping for your next web host

Yeah I wish I knew this before I signed up with them. I sure didn't get told that my site will be down 24 times each day. My site is down again right now as we speak, surprise surprise. Over 1hr downtime in the past 24hrs and this has been one of the better days this week! What a joke!
