Would you like colors in signatures?

The subject + poll says it all. Poll closes Thursday midnight, eastern US time.

Vote away... And please feel free to post any relevant comments.

N.B. The only thing we're not willing to compromise on is font size, which should be no larger than normal size (i.e. you can't go higher than 3).

<<Edit : sorry, I forgot to mention that a simple majority on the final vote count rules, thus avoiding the need for a Florida-style recount .>>

Color Signature is Good and very eyes catching if not too many people use color signature.

If too many people use color signature this forum will become very colorful (in my opinion)

"Yes, definitely. They're eye-catching."

This was my vote. Just "Yes", not the rest.

"No. They should be the same for everyone in order to ensure fairness."

If color is allowed then it IS the same for everyone! Everyone has the same choice to change their sig to include color... or not. I don't have any color in my sig, but if the rule is changed back (to allow it) I may put some in just irk the signature (and avatar) police! (Not the mods... the wht WHINERS!)

"What in the world are you babbling about?"

I often wonder that!

Regards,
Michael

I don't think fairness is the issue; as MichaelD says, anybody could use colors, so that's fair. Still voting no, though, because they're just plain ugly.

Of course I'm being swayed by the one obvious garish example!

I voted yes, seen as we can't have company logos as an Avatar it allows us to be more individual and unique. I would personally prefer it if the vote were about logos as Avatars and keep sigs to b+w.

I think colors on a signatures are ugly. The content should be eye catching, not the sig.

colour sigs suck!!

im actually swaying toward hyperlinked sigs where it is the choice of the reader if they want to view the sig !!!!

just as it is the choice of the user if they want to view a users full detailed information !!

anybody agree to the same ?

I don't think colors are that bad in signatures. As long as not everyone start using them and all using different colors.

vote: YES

I don't really understand that. There's no restriction at all on individuality; in fact that's what is being encouraged by eliminating company logos -- your avatar represents you as an individual. Unique? What's unique about a company logo?

Well as i am starting a hosting co. now, theres big part played by the logo and how you bring out your company. The logo is usually thought by the owner and reflects them in some way.

I'd have to vote no..
1) It's a forum, not a coloring book.
2) Do you really want to be seeing all these colors at 3am?
3) This place would be looking like an AOL chatroom overnight.

There's a time and a place. The operators of this forum have made it clear that they don't intend it to be a place for hosting companies to attract customers, so it's not the place to have that part played by your logo. And if your logo reflects you in some way, you can certainly take those elements of it that are personal and integrate them into a personal avatar without mentioning your company name.

One of the hosts that uses a colored sig mentioned in another thread recently that when he changed his sig the number of signups/visitors to his site increased. To me, that's a strong argument for eliminating colors: it's not the intent of this place (except the ad forum, but there's no way to have a different sig definition there).
